1st bike Kawi 400. Then Yamaha 650 "Thumper"

3rd Bike FINALLY got the HARLEY FXR in 88. Got the Harley YA YAs out of my system with that bike ...sold it to some grateful yuppie and bought a Honda 1100 Shadow for $6900. Rode that bike all throughout the southwest trouble free and was offered $7500 (and accepted) by a Swede who was looking to take a Harley back to Sweden but could not afford the inflated prices at the time.

Now am looking to buy another cruiser.

The reason many are comparing their bikes to Harley's is because the metric cruisers were and are designed and built to look like Harley's as there was and is definitely a market for those who either cannot afford a Harley or choose not to pay the high price but want the same feel and look of a big twin. Many apparently clean off the badges to make passer -bys think they have a Harley so they get the same bang for less buck.

The line is defiantly blurring between the Real thing and the knock off . Especially in the V Star line.

J.R. Bob Dobbs wrote:I love my 1995 Nighthawk 750.

It is my second bike, but my first one with some power. At first it felt scary-fast compared to my 250.

I have installed 10% "lower" sprockets on it, made a noticeable difference in thrust and hasn't hurt mileage one bit (if anything it went up a tad, go figure).
I started a year ago on a Rebel 250. Went to a Vulcan 800 Classic which is very nice, easy handling, easy riding. Then got my son's old bike, 95 NH 750, which I was going to sell. Then I rode it a few times. The Vulcan sits in the garage now. I love that bike, the riding position, the power, the smooth engine, everything. It's black with black ceramic pipes and everyone eyes it when they see it, or maybe they are looking at the stud riding it..don't know.

I'm the proud owner of an '86 Yamaha FZX700 (Fazer). I love the fact that I will probably never see anyone else who owns one on the road. They were made in the states for two years only, and are quite rare. I love the fact that it doesn't fit in a specific category. It has a sportbike motor (same Genesis 5 valve as the older FZ's), naked-bike toughness, and cruiser style. I can drag the pegs, run straightaway with a CBR600, and cruise all day with all of its low-end grunt. They're known as the "baby V-max", and it fits my personality (and needs) perfectly. It can do anything on any day.

What I don't like is the 3.4 gallon tank, that parts are in short supply, and the Yamaha service tech that told me it's "too old" for him to look at. (I do like that this forced me to learn to do my own work, however.)

2003 Honda VTX 1800R

i love it because it's big, looks great, has tons of power, pulls like a train, is reliable, and i can ride it effortlessly all day long.

the only gripes i had with it was the seat (had because i replaced the damn thing). used to get a numb butt after 50 or so miles, now i can ride all day.

i just plain love the thing

Sweet ride; after reading through all the posts I almost couldn't believe no one else rides a Duc. I have an 06 SS, but the yellow is pretty awesome.

I'd post a pic, but I don't know how.
