I thought the point of having mandatory seatbelt & helmet laws [for bikers] was to reduce the costs of injuries. Thats what I remember insurance & govt saying years ago.
After 20 yrs [in Conn] of mandatory seatbelt laws I'm still waiting for the lowered insurance premiums.
So I guess that wasn't really the reason. Maybe it was to generate more revenue from writing traffic tickets.
BTW, Conn doesn't have mandatory helmet laws. [unless your under 18 or only have a permit]

I've banged my head around enough in accidents I don't need a law telling me to wear seatbelts or helmets. Which by the way, wearing a seatbelt broke my neck and left me paralyzed, but without the belt, I think I'd be dead. Or I could have been thrown clear of the truck and not had to deal with the subsequent rolls
At any rate, someone made a nice comment earlier about not needing more gun laws, but more training. That's a +1 right there. Aside from keeping up skills training, the biggest problem is people need to stop being irresponsible jackasses. I just finished reading the MSF book again and they don't stress enough (though the definitely try) that avoiding hazards and taking actions to decrease risks and bad situations will do you best. Its usually a compilation of small factors and interactions that come together in just the right series to cause a pretty bad result. If you can reduce those risks by taking action early on the 'easy' corrections, you can avoid the bigger trouble.
Well whatever people's decisions are, just be sure when you do end up with an easily avoiable catastrophie that you also keep all the whiners and crybabies in your family from harping the media and running frivilous lawsuits through the system. There shouldn't be more restrictions on activities.

I'm not worried about people looking down on only me, but ALL motorcyclists in general. Again you are too thick headed to see the point. The general public, who see more motorcycle deaths automatically start saying they are too dangerous and they start trying to pass MORE unnecessary laws.
ZooTech wrote:Congratulations, wiggy, you managed to utilize Google to find one effing video that you think illustrates your point. I'm sure shortly after running over the already dead guy, the person in the other car (did I say "person"? I meant "victim") committed suicide because of the grief. Life should be way funner and easier!!!
You said you were 29? I'd swear you were only 12.

Awww you think I'm perfect
