dr_bar has pics in his camera now - dr_bar, Gummiente, Gummiente's fiance Angie, Mrs. Stark, and me in various combos. We all left Gummi's house at mid-day and went our different ways; dr_bar headed further west in Ontario, and Mrs. Stark and I rode south and are now stopped for the night outside Scranton, PA.intotherain wrote:do u have pictures of you and the other tmw members?

Sometimes heat can get to you... I'm sure that's how the driver of the truck on the 401 felt when his trailer went up in smoke gridlocking that highway for miles...
I was stuck in that traffic for awhile and the heat was tough to take... Hey look an antique store with a cafe attached time to leave the highway, ended up in the icecream shop instead.
I hit the side roads and made it, finally, into Angus. Angus is a small town next to the base where my brother is stationed, I'm here a day early and will spend the extra day here so I can see about some warranty work that needs looking after.
No, not on the bike. As those following my trip know, I don't have my navigator par excellance with me, so I spent a small fortune on a GPS unit, and a RAM mount. The GPS sits tucked in behind my windshield protected from the elements, (not that a unit guarranteed to an IPX4 rating, {click the link for that rating's explanation} of being waterproof should need that sort of protection.)
Anyway, I was leaving Mont Joli on the Gaspé, when a heavy rain started. With no place to stop it was a kilometer or three before I could pull over and get the GPS put away. Now with me moving, it stayed dry, as soon as I stopped, it started getting wet. It took me approx 30 seconds to get it into my tank bag, (with it's waterproof plastic cover on it) and I went on my way. I pulled into Campbellton that night and when I pulled the GPS out to charge it, there was water behind the touch screen and it no longer worked.By the way, everything else in the tankbag was bone dry...
I spent an hour on the phone with customer service who said water wasn't a warranty issue and finally convince the supervisor I was eventually referred to, that it was indeed a warranty problem. Now I have to get it to the warranty shop in Canada which just happens to be about an hour or so from here. So I will deal with that tomorrow. So here's the journey yesterday...

Time for a few more pics...
I found the Gaspé to be a very beautiful place. I even found the perfect house or two for blues to retire to...

No, it's not photoshopped, I was actually there... This is Peggy's Cove, possibly the most photographed location in Canada. I know I mentioned the people I stayed with in Dartmouth, but I never said how much I appreciated their hospitality. M and her mom were just super people and waited on me hand and foot... A guy could get used to that sort of service...

After crossing into NY State, I met Mr & Mrs jstark47. Regretably for the better part of two days, this is all I saw.

But to tell the truth, they are super people, I would love to get together with them again for a longer trip... Gee, when's TMW's inaugural ride-in/rally??? Hint hint....
Here's jstark47 practicing one of his hobbies, not just photography, but with a very old russian camera, a very cool one at that... Also, a pic of our bikes...

Along with my guides through NY State and the Adirondack Park, there was another great couple I met in the last few days that were super hosts and entertaining people, Gummiente and his partner. Gummi met us just north of the US/Canada border and took us to his humble abode. I regretably missed out on a picture of "Hector the Wonder Dog" but for those of you that have read Gummi's blog, you'll have seen plenty of those, and he really does steal the show... So below you'll find a picture of these two great couples that took me under their wings for a brief time...

And of course there has to be a picture of three members of TMW from three totally different locations on the map, New Jersey, Gananoque, and BC.

One of the incredible sights around gummiente's home, just happens to be other homes. The 1000 Islands are amazing. Regrettably, I never went back and got any pictures so here are a couple from the web. Yes, these houses are sitting right on tiny Islands, not much bigger than some of the homes...

I never had a Rolodex...that's the problem. I write things down on a piece of paper....and then I can't find the paper later.Gummiente wrote:You mean you don't have my address on file from the last time you sent me a batch? I'm... I'm... turfed from your Rolodex?!blues2cruise wrote:Bring me his address and I will mail him some more.

I get buried under the paper that somehow procreates here.....I'm trying to solve that problem with the shredder.

Writing peoples names on a web site without their permission isn't always a great idea. Angie and yourself were great to meet. Too bad that it was for such a short time... Tell her that the cheque will be in the mail asap and I need to know how much shipping costs are...Gummiente wrote:Uh, Doug... my "partner" has asked me to remind you that her name is Angie.dr_bar wrote:Gummiente and his partner![]()
