I think you missed my point on that one by a whole area code (which around here is the whole state)
I don't have my dream bike because I can't afford it, and what I do have I have had to wait for and care for very much. I don't beat it to hell "drifting", laying patches of rubber, and racing everything in sight.
I didn't have the luxury of having my parents co-sign for me. Everything I have I've had to work for and care for very much. If doing burnouts and running through tires faster than I can drink a beer are what you're into, then I know that litre bike is not what you need...or maybe it is
That's all I'm going to say on that issue...

I just came on to this forum for some pointers on higher cc bikes for starters came across this one and figuered I would voice my opion. And if the site managers want to close the thread. Why not just close the site. Because that is the message that they will be sending, anyone with a different opion is wrong and doesnt know what the hell they are talking about. So go ahead and close the thread lock it do what you have to. But I dont want to hear it if you do it. Because for every action there is a reaction.

The joys of a democracy are that while we go with the say of the majority, the minority will always have its voice. It's interesting that the vast majority of people who think a 600cc sportbike is a good starting bike aren't yet riders.

You came here looking for pointers about high powered motorcycles for a beginner. And you got our "pointers". The problem is that you were looking for justification/validation for you decision to start off with a higher cc bike. You won't get it here. Not from me, not from any reasonable member of this forum. Why? Because, gee, it might just be a bad idea. We are not some cult that is so anti-fast-motorcycle that we hold up crosses to it and start spilling out gibberish and foaming at the mouth when we see someone riding one. As you can see, many of our members have these more powerful machines and love them.
There's a reason that 250cc motorcycles are made. There is a reason for the graduated-licensing system for our friends across the pond.
And you got one thing right... you don't know what you're talking about. That can only come from some level of experience or actually taking in the lessons that these people are trying to give you. If you don't listen to them, that's your own fault. Hopefully your skin/future bike/parents won't have to regret that.

Well, the horse is past dead and flogged; it is merely trampled bones at this point.
Gixxer, please just agree to disagree, and stop baiting us with insults. You will do what you think is in your best interests. You have asked what members of this forum think, and have not been able to cajole anyone into agreeing with you. Accusing everyone of ossification while you wallow in your own is pointless, except to garner a little extra attention, and then complain once again no one agrees with you. We must be a bunch of old fogeys. Okay, we are. You have your information. Move on to a different topic or a different website, then, and leave this thread available to the next hardheaded newbie who wants to feel out this whole cc/hp/learning curve thing.
Y'see, sometimes, people do listen to the advice on this website. We have made a difference for some. It just may not be for you.

I hope more people do come on here like me, because then they give you guys something to do besides sit around and collect on Social Security which I am paying for. So really Im the reason why you can even sit around on this site 24/7. So yall should be the ones thanking me instead of insulting me. And you people are like trying to talk to a blind deaf mute with down syndrome. And why not, I agree to disagree so no need to reply to this post about any past subject I have brought up because that will inturn make me respond to your post. Which then starts the whole circle back over again. Like I said just dont post and I wont. Wait till another newbie wanting some insight to frolic along this post then feel free to "Help" him make a smart pick of a bike. All of you made good points except for Fargo, your a poser.
