Kawasaki also makes EVERYTHING out there, and is branching out into power tools I saw recently.
KHI (Kawasaki Heavy Industries) makes locomotives, ships, heavy equipment, machine tools and a buttload of other stuff I haven't mentioned. I have a Kawasaki 5" grinder that is probably as old as you are. It's green, too.
Powertools are nothing new for them, just never very common over here, until now.KHI also used to run their racing department. Back when the was such a thing as 'works' bikes, works Kawi's all had 'KHI' cast into the cases someplace, as all those one-off racing engines were specially built in their KHI foundry, not the motorcycle plant. I think they moved the racing program away from KHI into the bike division a few years ago, but I'm not positive about that.
Kawasaki is large enough and diversified enough to survive this economic dump.
