Poor, silly iwannadie...you don't have to take two poodles, two german shepherds, two beagles, and two of every other kind of dog on the ark...all you need is two mutts. Man has managed to create all of the various types of dogs through genetic breeding, but they're still dogs. Same goes for all the types of frogs, toads, horses, etc. You only need two frogs...the rest will occur through time and climate differences. So suddenly the list of animals on the ark is drastically reduced from your misconception, isn't it?

if the flooding did actually happen the whole earch was covered with water explain to me how plants survived? i have a plant that dies if i put half a cup too much water on it let alone submerge it under a mix of fresh and salt water for extended periods of time.

The plants didn't necessarily need to survive, just the seeds. I'm sure most large trees survived 40-days submerged and recovered but any smaller plants that couldn't cut it would only need to leave viable seeds behind to replenish the earth.

Well, we've already reduced the number of animals from our little talk about mutts, so the rest was worked out by God in his orders to Noah regarding what to bring.

Huh? What, are animals lazy and do they just stay where you plop 'em down and breed right there? I'm sure they traveled around just like people do, otherwise according to your theory we'd all be living right next to the mud puddle we all crawled out of millions of years ago.

Breed two mutts and what happens? No defects. Defects arise from years of selective breeding.

It didn't come from rain clouds, it came from underneath the earth. All of the land masses used to be part of one huge land mass, devoid of the type of mountain ranges we observe today. This super land mass used to rest atop equally huge underground oceans. One day a huge rift tore through the land mass along areas we can observe today, creating the flood, the continents we live on today, and the mountain ranges.

Ya know, Wizz, we certainly need not agree on everything, but I thought you were the type of person that treated others' opinions with a little more tact than that.

For the record, carbon dating is a farce. It uses circular reasoning and has been dubunked countless times.

As for the world being flat...well...what can I say...that was a helluva cheap shot.

By Creation Scientists' estimate, around 10,000 years old. And trying to make me out to be a closed-minded superstitious freak with the world being flat comments is a testament to your debate style. I feel very strongly about Creation yet I haven't even attempted to make anyone out to be stupid or ignorant for believing in evolution. For the record I believe it takes far more faith to believe in evolution than Creation, and there is far more science behind Creation than you would probably admit to even if you saw it. The theory of evolution was man's attempt to explain his origin with God removed from the picture so that he could live his life unaccountable to an all powerful and judgemental Creator. I don't expect to convert a single person on this forum, but I sure as heck won't stand by and allow our side to go unrepresented.

In the first place I had no intention of offending you Zoo . It was a satirical
statement because I was still trying to figure out how we went from hummers to the creation/evolution debate . I do respect your opinions even when I do not agree with them . I will be the first to defend your right to your opinions . However it seems that the facts are different for each of us .
Yes I believe that the earth is millions of years old and absolutely nothing will ever convince me otherwise . And yes , I do have a higher power that I believe in and it is much stronger than myth and allegory .
Please remember that if we are going to get into this then we will have to do so on a historical level and nothing less . And I really don't want to do that . I come here to share and have some phun . Nothing more and nothing less .

Well, I'm not sure how topics get so skewed but it happens all the time here and in real conversation so I don't really bother to ask why any more.

I, too, respect your difference of opinion but I guess I was just a bit surprised by the way you picked on mine without presenting yours. I expect that from some people here but not from you. And it's not my intention to start arguments with anyone but the forum seems to be swarming with anti-Bush sentiment and the rants from environmentalists lately, and I've never been one to just sit back with my mouth closed and watch my beliefs being torn down. I have yet to create one single politically-charged topic on this forum but I'll be glad to jump in on the debate if I see my side on the witness stand with no one defending it.

Actually Zoo , until you said so , it never occured to me that I was picking on your opinion . I often read some threads in their entirety everytime so that I do not have to remember them between visits . At my age I practice selective memory otherwise I would certainly have way too much clutter that I don't really need .

One thing that should be noted is that more then 90% of our crude oil is imported from other countries. Some of theese countries are not exactly thrilled with the U.S. The top oil producing country in the world, is as we speak boycotting american goods. American produced oil accounts for less the 2% of the nations annual consumption.

Hate to interupt a good rant with actual facts, but the truth is we import about 40% of our oil. About 25% of what's imported is from the foriegn countries of Canada and Mexico. We get about 15-20% of our imports from the Middle East and about 20% from OPEC countries.
