I rode my motorcycle to work and back today. It was a balmy 5 degrees celsius....main criteria for riding....mild enough for the roads to be safe.

It was a fantastic morning....sunshine and only a bit of fog in the low area near work.

Last week when I rode to the motorcycle show it was about 12 degrees going out and about 8 coming later that night. It felt like a spring day.

I felt a small shiver of excitement when I made that first twist of the throttle and leaned the bike past my car to ride out of the garage. 8)

I bought myself a leather vest and some Rok straps at the bike show....and of course ogled at all the bikes.....

If this mild weather keeps up, there will be many more bikes out.....vrooommmm

Who brought back winter? I have not been able to ride to work this week because of the weather. This morning there was snow in South Surrey.
The insurance on my car expires next Tuesday, so after that I'll be riding to work and back. This cold/windy/rainy/stormy snap is supposedly going to end this weekend....

which brings me to....tonight I was at a theory class (mostly refresher info) that will lead into a weekend intensive riding skills improvement class all day Saturday and all day Sunday.
They have implied that the chicken strips on my tires will see some action.

I pre tripped my bike tonight. Good thing...the air pressure was down. So...I used my trusty bicycle pump to pump up the tires to the right pressure. I checked the fluids and made sure everything was in tip top shape.

Bonus...the weather is finally clearing up. It was actually sunny today and will be all weekend.

This is who is putting on the program.

April 19, 2010.

Given that this is my blog....I am going to be politically incorrect....

This is for the reetard driving behind me in the school zone on my way home from work today. :shooting: :shooting2:

I need some ball bearing to have accidently fall from my pocket when riding....
I was stopped at a red light. A pick up truck stopped behind me. So far so good. A white car pulled up beside me in the right turn only lane....under normal circumstances no problem....however...it was very clear that the schmuck in the white car was going to go straight....
Light turned green.....yep....I can be very quick on throttle and upshift when I want to be.....and the guy in the pick up truck.....heheh...he also was very quick on the throttle.....the white car had to merge in behind the truck. :D
I gave the truck driver a thumbs up.
The truck driver kept a good following distance...but the white car was weaving back and forth and tailgating the truck...At each light the truck kept his distance ....unfortunately he turned off prior to the school zone...

I could see the white car catching up to me and as I passed by the school zone marker, I pointed at it.....I slowed to 30kmh.
Well.....the guy in the white car was obviously not impressed....his car made motions as if to pass me on my right; but there was no room. He made motions as if he were going to pass on the double solid line....cars coming...

He was driving so close to me, I could see his facial expressions in my mirror. He made moves with his car that gave me the imnpression he was going to nudge my bike from behind....that is how close he was to me.
Not only did I hold my ground, I slowed by another km or 2......I even gestured my right arm toward the school hoping he would slow down and give me some space....
Nope! He brought his car closer.....if only I could have seen his license plate number....
At the end of the school zone I sped up to regular speed. It gave me a big gap between me and his car. I wonder if he had been alone in his car if he actually would have nudged the back of my bike. He turned off just before I did.....so I did not get a chance to get the plate #.

Oh yeah.....I also did something not very ladylike....I gave him a digital expression as I sped away.

That, or a jelly donut, or (plentiful in my household but probably not in my pocket) a dirty diaper.

Blues: You cannot "fix" the mentally defective. You can only pull over and get away from them, quickly and decisively. Let them find someone else to hassle. You make a habit of this and you're going to end up as a smear on the pavement.

According to the wisdom of Old Limericks:

Here lies the grave of Mike O’Day.
He died maintaining his right of way.
His right was clear,
His will was strong,
But he's as dead as if he’d been wrong.

Now, if you want to do this with a Hummer, that's your business  ..... but not with the V-star, please.

Well, Mr Stark is quite right, blues. It is not worth taking risks with guys like that.

(But secretly, I'm with you anyway! :motorcycle: )

Once in a while, it's good for the soul.

cheers

Hud

I usually do pull over.....in fact whenever I come home via 16th I pull over near the curb and let the speedy folks go by....however, yesterday there was no place to pull over. It was on a curve downhill and just a dirt shoulder at the side.

If I ever see him again, I will pull over prior to the area and let him by.
