Lets get back to basics:

1. Have you had any formal training?
2. Are you licensed or endorsed in ANY way by the State of Michigan?

You want to share your vision of how we should train/practice. To respect your position we need these simple sorts of information.

I really wanted nothing to do with this topic, but I'm going to step in be a dick for awhile.

I believe practice is a good and necessary thing for any complicated operation, especially those that can kill you.

I also think that there are just some people who have the natural ability (from motor skills to thought processes to nerve signal speed, I don't know what it is) to ride. And some people don't. I don't mean that they can make a bike move and turn, most anybody can be taught that, and with practice, become fairly proficient at it.

And some people take to riding so naturally...... practice not only makes them better, they progress faster and farther than the first group.

Some people can play baseball or hockey or football, better, faster, and easier than others, and every team has at least one 'star' who is better than their team mates, right. Same thing applies to riding..... or hairdressing, or accounting or whatever, really.

OK, that was my 2 cents, and now I'm going to lock this thread down, temporarily for now, and leave it in the hands of Mike the Admin and the rest of the interested parties. They may well decide to re-open it, but I am not sure or making any promises. I do promise that I don't much care one way or the other.

I also would like to say how nice it was that this thing ran on as long as it did without any of the usual collapses into name-calling and insult throwing these things most always degrade to.

Congratulations to everybody for that. One thing about this site that you never see anyplace else is this kind of civility. I'm not locking it down because of behavior, but because 7 pages of the same half dozen points is about enough, before things go all kindergarden. Not many mods on other sites get to do that, eh?

Blitch-away at me all you like now......
