I always thought the term was due to the 883 being a good sized HD for the ladies, not how fast it went.

That's because we're "Harley snobs".

Yea, I mentioned the AMF XR-750 -- which only became competitive after AMF pumped in enough money to use sand-cast aluminum in the engine.

You dismissed me, and your rubber ducky friend added ridicule.

 Phil! Take it easy Pal.

You sure are quick to call me (& my so called Rubber Duckie friend) names....& you haven't even got to know me properly.

My My, don't you think your over re-acting a little there?

Hmmmmm....perhaps you should snuggle up in bed with a good book & a Ripe Tomatoe?

That MUST have felt STRANGE!
Simple. I ride everything I can, so I can at least try to have an informed opinion. Didn't feel too strange either, I also own and ride a '65 Honda C200 (90cc) and a '73 Honda CL350. It is as my signature line says.

I wish all the self-proclaimed Harley "experts" here and on other forums would do the same. I may not agree with all of your points on the Sportster, but I definitely appreciate the fact that you actually went out and RODE ONE before forming your opinions. :righton:

Agreed...my sentiments, exactly! I keep hoping someone will just give me one. Oh, and I'm not holding my breath on that one.

Yea, you're right there. Sorry about that. I jumped onto the board, and your reaction was about what mine would have been under reversed circumstances.

But why can't Harley do with Buell what Honda did when faced with Ducati's challenge in Superbike? Honda built a V-twin, kicked Ducati's "O Ring", then retired the bike! That is motorcycle balls on display. Harley recognized the success of Buell, buys the company, then continues to saddle this engineering genius with obsolete engine technology!

I simply want America's only motorcycle company to act like a proper motorcycle company. Give Buell a 150 horsepower, liquid cooled V-twin. Compete and win!

You stated that Ducati did just that, and lost.
Perhaps HD realise the futility of another V-twin spotsbike up against the Japanese manufacturers ability to produce superior machines.
Just a thought.

That is why HD enlisted the help of Porsche to develop the Revolution engine; V-Rod..Street Rod..Night Rod. It was a good move and gave them products for the 21st century. They have to go this way as the air cooled V-twins have been maxed to the limit with regard to emissions and noise output.

In time Buell will be working with high output liquid cooled engines, it will simply be a matter of survival of the legislation.

Just curious..... why does this discussion(over and over and over again) always revolve around Harley VS anything else? If I say Hondas Suck!!! someone might argue the piont, but WWIII doesn't breakout. What is about someone not likeing Harley's that pisses those who do off so much? Liking your bike, reguardless of brand, is what it's all about. If someone else doesn't like your brand, what does it matter?

I just don't get all the animosity generated over this whole thing. But then again, I'm a Brand-mean.... I'll ride anything that gets me off.
