I started up my bike and rode it through my underground parking garage for a few minutes. I managed a left hand u-turn (hooray) but a right hand u-turn will still have to wait.
That was the first time I tried my bike since I broke my rib 4-1/2 weeks ago. My rib area (in fact that whole right side) is still weak and tender.
I'll try again tomorrow.

I'm trying.
I moved my car back against the wall and put the bike in front of the car.
Next week I will go get the bike insured for the outside world.

Today as I walked to the local supermarket, I saw a couple of homeless people hanging out on the grass by the trail. They were obviously sleeping in that place because all their gear was there.
So....when i bought my own stuff, I also bought a bag of produce to give to them. They were sleeping when I went by them again, so I just left the bag of produce for them.
(There are a lot of homeless people here...especially in the summer)
So, I have a question.
Is it only altruistic is you do something like that and don't tell anyone? Or does leaving the bag of produce anonymously count as altruism?

Took the scenic route home from my office in Richmond to my apartment in Tsawwassen, usually a 15 minute commute at the most. Instead of taking the usual turn off, I head down to Crescent Beach in South Surrey, then the back road to White Rock till 8 Ave, head east until it dead ended, then got on 16th Ave and went east again, past Abbotsford till 16th deadended. Took an unknown road with lots of neat twisty section to the Fraser. Then headed towards Fort Langley via River Road. Fort Langley to Port Kells, Port Kells to Langley City and Township. Back on 16th to Pacific Highway, then back on 8th to Highway 99 to Highway 91, then off 91 to River Road in Delta and on home to Tsawwassen, a little under 200 kilometres, about 4 hours and a tank of gas......felt great.

That's a bit of detour, that's for sure.

Hey blues this is beginning to sound like deja vu! Yep, sounds to me like you've been through this process before in the not so distant past.
Listen, here's some advice - just don't do this rib thing again, huh. Not for a very, very long time - maybe ever. (Don't want to tempt fate too far, you understand.

)
Keep up the good work - and leep up the healing.
Cheers

Thank you for the advice. It is duly noted. I'm one step ahead of you, though.
After riding through the parking garage I was feeling a bit of encouragement about my predicament. Yesterday, I was all set to go to the insurance store to buy insurance so I could take the bike outside. A niggling voice inside my head said, "Don't be stupid". I finally listened to the voice in my head and did not insure my bike yet. I'll make do with transit for a bit longer and do a bit more practice in the garage.
I also think that once I get released from this rehab program I will start to feel better. Whoever came up with the idea that 4-5 hours of exercise 5 days a week is good for you needs their head examined.
I'm going for a walk now. Gotta keep the joints mobile and muscles supple for when I ever get go riding again.

Blues, they're on crack. When I was rehabing....from my big accident, I went in 3 days a week, 1hr a day. I came in in bad shape, not just fitness, but my body pretty busted up. I left there doing really,
really well.

mowed the lawn... it's a big lawn takes about 2 or so hours to do.
cleaned the dishwasher with clr. works a bit better now.
bought earplugs. I'm not sure i'm using them right as i don't notice a difference in hearing... gave my self an ear ache trying to get them into my ear canal.
I took the motorcycle to the grocery store, filled the saddle bags and tank bags with about a weeks worth of groceries... could have brought my back pack too but i didn't
