I got a new helmet today. It's an Icon Alliance.....It has great peripheral vision, fits so well....it's oval, not round...and.....the vents actually work. It was very hot this afternoon but my head was cool inside the helmet. And....it's quieter than the other helmets I have had.

I've only worn it for an hour, but so far I am impressed.

I often hear comments about supporting the dealers. If you buy online the dealers won't stay in business....etc.

Well.....if the dealers won't have stock in the store, what can they expect?

I need a set of engine guards....none of the dealers have any in stock. Given that most buyers install engine guards right away, they should be able to purchase a set at the time of the bike purchase.

Likewise with helmets.....I had to wait for the dealer to order one in. And my boots....and the clutch cable I got for my Yamaha.....
I am beginning to see why people order online. If you know what you want it saves time and energy.

I need to get a dogleg clutch lever....I bet they have to order it, too.

Sigh........

In fairness, I have to admit my local dealer seems to know the trick for getting things ordered in quickly. Many things come the next day, most everything else in two days. Maybe things are different up there in the Land of the Eternally Disgruntled Beaver??

(p.s. except for Triumph parts, which apparently are carried clear across Siberia on little carts drawn by teams of snails....)

I ordered some engine guards from guy who has a shop nearby. They should be in next week. This particular person has a shop that deals in used bikes, mechanical stuff and new, but last year's gear., etc.

He has good prices on helmets, gloves, boots.....I've purchased a few things from him. In his case I would not expect him to have lots of stock....but he does have catalogues.....

Thank you.

Funny you should ask about gender....everyone says all machines, (boats, cars, bikes) are female....but I say my bike should be male....it's big and rumbly.
I'm still waiting for the right "name" for it.
I can sure notice the difference in power....especially going uphill.
I ordered some engine guards and as soon as they come in, I'll be going to a lot to practice some maneuvers.
