Congradulations Kal! Are you going to get a new bike?

No, I'm probably going to use Jules' CX trike for a bit and then put the CB250 on the road. Possibly with the 400 engine in it.
I'll work all that out later, for now I am just happy that I have my licence. Even if it does mean I've gone from 12 penulty points down to 6!

how do you lose points for going to a higher class license?
or is it a system where fewer points are better

You start with a clean sheet. Picking up a Serious or Dangerous fault means that the test is over immediately - re-apply in 10 days.
You are allowed 15 minor faults, as long as no more than 3 are in any one catagory. Otherwise your 'riding has not reached the required standard' and you have to reapply in ten days.
I picked up;
One footbrake fault - I have a bad habit of engine braking and using the rear to guide the bike because CeeGee's front brake was so useless
Correct procedure is to use the front brake than apply the rear as needed. On test day the conditions were wet so the rear was needed.
Two steering faults - I didn't have my usual confidence. I am still getting over my last low speed drop so with conditions being what they were I was loathe to lean the bike over to get through junctions. which meant I ended up swinging wide and then 'swan necking' the bike back on to the correct part of the road.
One fault in Move off safety - The only thing I can think of is that I must have failed to do a lifesaver at some point, but it must have been in a 'safe location' otherwise it would have been a Serious or Dangerous fault.
One Ancillary Controls - I must have left an indicator on for longer than needed but cancelled it before I approached a turning as approaching a turning you have no intent of taking with the inidcator on is a Serious fault, passing the same junction with indicator on is a Dangerous fault.
I've posted what I can remember of my pre-test and test in my bike journal here:http://kal-357.livejournal.com/19754.html

Oh I've just realised you mean the penulty points!?! </blonde>
Thats because I am now in the probationary period for my full licence, so I only have 6 points (two speeding fines!) to play with in the next 2 years, or I'll lose my licence. After that it will bounce up to 12 points.
My provisional licence is so old that it has a full 12 points available to it, I believe but could be mistaken, that new provisional licences come with a mere 6 points on them to start with.
