Hello there


Is riding a bike from alaska to russia possible? What is the connecting route over the sea?

my plan is to ride from toronto to new delhi. covering canada, russia, china, myanmar, india, nepal and to new delhi. Would you have any information regarding this route?

The bike i am using is a 200cc suzuki maradaur.

i think it would be possible if your bike could convert into a jetski.

If you are serious about this... This would be some peice of work... I always thought of doing something like this with my jeep..

I am glad some one is at least thinking about this

I wish I have the time/money... Otherwise I would join.. not kidding..

You can cross from Anchorage, Alaska to Russia either by boat or by plane. Both options are expensive, and there may be delays.

I wouldn't recommend trying to do the trip on a 200cc Marauder. The Road of Bones will kill it. Get yourself a dual-sport/adventure touring bike instead.

Want to know what riding through Russia and Mongolia is like? Get yourself a copy of the "Long Way Round" dvd, and pay careful attention to when the guys are going through eastern Russia and Mongolia.

Don't forget to get all your paperwork in order as well

Carnet de Passage
Appropriate Tourist Visas (these can take a while to get)
Book your passage from Alaska to Russia in Advance

Budget for maintenance items (oil, filters, tires)

You might also want to check with the folks over at Horizons Unlimited for more info on RTW travel than you can shake a stick at.

Most of your trip would be ( about 70%... guessing) will be rugged terrain..

The big BMW GS bikes are nice, but they are very heavy and awkward to manage, especially when fully loaded up. Better off to go with a smaller, lighter DS bike (KLR650, F650GS, Multistrada 620, V-Strom 650, KTM 640). The smaller bike will be easier to handle and will get better gas mileage than a bigger bike.

Make sure that you have an inline fuel filter on your bike as well, as you can never be sure about the quality of the fuel that you will be able to find.
