Hi all...I wrote before about my Suzuki GS500E giving me problems. Well, I finally got some time today and I took the gas tank and the petcock off, thinking that the problem might be in the fuel line, as some have suggested. The tubes were okay, except for one: I discovered that the vacuum tube wasn't connected to the fuel shut off valve! It was stuck under some other part of the engine! The one end was connected to the carb though... I bought the bike in October, and have ridden it sporadically in this northeastern wintry area of the US. It was in February when it suddenly started to bog down, losing rpms in the higher gears, then in the lower gears, until it wouldn't really run. After a "get ready for spring" check up, I thought things were fine, and they were, for two weeks, then it did that all over again. I ran down the battery the other day, so it didn't have enough power to get it started today, once I realized the situation and reconnected the vacuum tube. Is there a chance that the engine suffered some major damage as a result of having been ridden so long with that tube connected? I'm going to charge the battery up tomorrow and see if I can get it started, see what happens then...
