It makes only too much sense...

Everyone has been asking that question since before the engine was in the V-Rod! The VR1000 should have led directly to the Buell.

HD claims that the revolution engine is too long front to back to fit in the buell chassis. I say bullshit. How hard would it be to make the chassis a little longer to accomodate the engine.

I have a sneaking suspicion that Buell is not long for this world.

The VR1000 was tiny...

Well that sucks.
There goes the hope of there being a sportbike manufacturer in our country.

try the HD Street Rod... it is close to a sport... with a few mods you could make it closer to a sport. I have heard "wish they would put that engine in a Buell" a lot. but i think HD did the right thing by putting it in a cuiser first. Anyways I'm glad they did what they did... it is the reason i purchased my first Harley.

And they should make it a bit longer. To me, all the models look too short (length-wise) and too tall (height-wise).

Considering that Buell (the motorcycles) have been around for over 10 years............

And Erik Buell was racing his designs using a Sportster engine in the mid to late 80's..........

Buells are small and light. The vrods are not. the vrod motor is big and very heavy. In stock trim Total power for the buell motor is only 5-10 hp down on the vrod motor. Thought for serious modifications the vrod has more potential, see the destroyer. Adding the Liquid cool equipment not on the air cooled buell also adds weight, takes up space and is more complex. really you dont want it in there.

The VR1000 engine in which the V-Rod engine is based upon was not big and heavy. The difference between the air-cooled and stressed Sportster motor and the V-Rod motor is night and day....
