Just enrolled in it for 5/13, and am pretty psyched about it. I'm hoping there's a lot of focus on sudden high speed stops, that's the area I feel most uncomfortable in still even though I try to practice it on deserted roads as much as possible.
It's an 8am-6pm course, how'd this course go for you guys?

I have not taken it but I am interested. Let us know how it goes. Don't drop your bike while at the class.

Well, turns out the 5/13 class was overbooked, so when I got my registration letter from MSF they've put me in the 6/24 class.

Did actually charge you for the other class? If not, go to the 5/13 class anyway. Most likely they have people that don't show up. At least they do that here with the courses.
I personally found the class overwhelming and I didn't go for the second range day. Plus I wasn't comfortable with one of the instructors. That said, I still think it's an invaluable starting point for new riders.
BTW, I'm a rookie. I was just browsing around in the Experienced forum

.
Good luck with it!

Well I just completed the Advanced course last weekend. Pretty good I would say. We did plenty of practising at the high speed stops and object avoidance at speed as well as manuvering through the curves with unexpected stops thrown in etc. It was good to learn the braking limits of the bike. I wasn't planning to attend the second day but am glad that I did. The slow speed manuvers was great training. All that in a drizzle with wet parking lot pavement. By the end of the time we were all smoking around the pylon course, something I wouldn't have attempted otherwise.
I can't imagine anyone not getting good benifit from the course. In fact there were two riders in our buncht take it every year because they enjoy it so much.

Unbelievable, I was in the same class as old-n-slow. I would have to agree that it was not only great fun but a very good learning experience.
Most people never practice these manouvers on their own unless they're very self-disciplined and actually make a point of working on them from time-to-time. Even then, it helps to have professional instructors to critique/guide/train you properly. I've been recommending it to everyone I know for the last two weeks now. This ERC was my first MC course, (I didn't do the novice MSF), and I intend to repeat it at least every other year - maybe even yearly.
