so, who out there has an '03 or later SV650s and is over 6' tall, the dealer said it might be a bit cramped, but I sat on it and it felt pretty good, anyone out there have any longer riding thoughts on the ergos?

ive ridden an SV650s, from 2002. Not sure the size differences between the different years, would expect it not to be much different. Im about 5'11'' and i fit fine. I can see guys taller than me fitting fine.

I have an 05 SV (just the standard model) and I'm about 6'1" and its pretty much perfect for me. I know the S has rearsets and the bars are lower but, I sat on the S too when I bought mine and it felt ok as well. Whatever feels good for you, go with, doesn't matter what the salesmans says if it feels right. Numbers are just numbers, everyone is shaped differently.

A heavier rider will depress the bike further.

Ergo a 120lb rider with 29" legs may have problems a 29" inseam 400lb rider would not.

Anyway, arm length will determine how upright you sit, torso length will too... and shoulder width. I've sat on bikes that made my wrists ache because the bars were wrong for me/the seat to handlebar distance. You could have a bike that was easy to straddle but your arms would be hanging down to your waist to and your knees were bent out of position reaching the shifter.

hey dude,
I have a 03 sv650s and I am 6'1 and 220lbs, I find this bike fits perfect...
I have ridden a 600gsxr and a kawi 636, both I felt very cramp'd

I also find on long rides, you can scoot your butt forward, and have a more upright position, after an hour I look for a place to stretch.....>:)

I really like the torque on the sv, especially since I do 80% city driving.
what ever gear Im in I can accelerate out of those cell phone talking SUV owners...., never sit in the blind spot.

I have went +1 tooth on the front sprocket, and I love her even more...
It feels like a 600SS when going from 0-100km/h

-2005 SV650s
-6'1
-225

I dont have a problem with my arms, back, or butt on my SV. I do have a problem with my knees after about an hour, my legs get too cramped. I will likely do some comfort mods in the future, but the stock S model can get cramped.

Yes, the torque is very sweet and just a blast on the street.

If you can find a set of SV non-'S' model footpeg mounts, it might open up the cockpit a bit for your legs.

sure you didn't mean -1 on your countershaft sprocket? +1 would make the gearing taller and reduce the acceleration. -1 would make the gearing shorter and make the bike accelerate faster.

Ya, thats something I will think about. I am also thinking about not worrying about comfort mods at all and just making it a track bike. The SVs is a very popular track bike from what I hear.
