Another bad wekend in Africa

#1 Unread post by sapaul »

It was a mad rush but we managed to get away on the weekend to God's country again. Put the bike on the trailer, packed the Goose, the Kid and a friend and drove the 4 hours to the mountains. Woke up Saturday morning to this.

This is where we stayed in the middle of a forest.

They called this place Hazyview. 25Ks down the road,4ks of dirt road, and there is a modern mall with movies and shops, the two teenagers wanted to spend the day there and the Goose and I wanted to hit the road, so it was an early start. We drove to the Mall, off loaded the bike and got going.

The scenery in this area is the best in the world and the roads are exceptional.

Saturday was brilliant and we spent the whole day just hitting the sweeps. We covered over 400kms just going from one town to the next on the best roads.

Sunday we had the morning exploring the forest on a quad and relaxing before the drive back.
Image
On the way back we stopped at the highest road. The Goose said she wanted to feel the wind in her hair on the highest road on the K1200S. This was the best we could do.

All in all it was a brilliant weekend.

More on the Blog, when I get time.

Every one of these threads makes me jealous.

Got a job for a soon-to-be-graduate CS guy? ;)

All Maine and no South Africa make Geoff go something something.

Those shots are just plain awsome. I told a friend that I want to go to SA for a visit and the response was "Isn't it all desert?" "Nope, think Arizona, but green". Now I think I have to re-think that one. I was suprised when I saw the K1200S behind all those trees to be honest. So, how'd it get there? Toss on some knobbies and take it wheeling?

I think I need to start an exchange program. Desparate bikers from over the water need to exchange 1 month with disadvantaged Africans  Had to trailer the bike this time, 1. had the kids, 2. tired of replacing tyres riding the bike there.. The place we stayed at is 4Ks into the forest. When it rains you need a 4x4 to get there.

well, if you want, you can hire me to be a driver/chaperone. I'll drive the van/trailer, you and the Goose take the bike, and when you need it, load it up and i'll drive you where you need to get to
Just need a double trailer, so i can pack mine up (once i get one).

I hate you, I hate you, I hate you, I hate you.

Okay secretly, I'm just crazy jealous.

Any chance of taking in an exchange student from Canada? He knows English, is a hard worker, and very quiet....
Of course I'm generalizing from a single example here, but everyone does that. At least I do.
