just picked up a brand new suzuki vstrom, had it in the garage. hes(landlord) in the process of moving downstairs on the lower level of the house so he's been going in and out of the garage. i went to check out the bike yesterday/last night and low and behold the tank has a very very small chip in the paint like someone banged into it with something. he hasnt come by yet to pick up the rent so im seething, waiting, thinking of what to say.

on a side note before i moved in he said "no problem" as far as me keeping my bike in his garage. that was the MAIN reason me and my g/f took the apt.
now hes been saying "as long as it fits i have no problem". he has a small garage, with a full dress harley and a bullit mustang. honestly it COULD fit if you make the room.

of course im ALREADY looking for new apartments because im so friggin p!ssed. we've only been her since last december. would you ask him to pay for the touch up? how much could that cost anyway? it was either him or one of his buddies that was working on the house but im def. leaning more towards him.

my fault partially for not making with the cover quicker but since it was in a garage i figured, what the heck? it'll be okay

If the garage is part of your rental, you have every right to make him pay for it. If the garage is just something he lets you use but not part of the rental- you're at his mercy.

If it is part of the rental, bring it up, and tell him you'll send him a copy of the estimate so he can send you the money to have it touched up.

problem is, he swears that he didnt do it and his guys are "stand up" guys and wouldnt do that w/out admitting to it. oh well, guess ill have to deal with it. it cant be much to get touched up, its tiny. its just the principle.

yeah the garage is part of the agreement and we got that out of the way in the beginning. guess im left holding the bag, no surprise

If the garage is in your agreement, then he is responsible for any damage while he is on the premise. It doesn't matter if his friends are stand up guys, accidents still happen- sometimes without noticing it. For instance, I knocked my glass of water into a bag of french onion potato chips. Didn't notice till the smell filled the whole apartment.
