Cops

#1 Unread post by matthew5656 »

Anyone ever get pulled over while riding? I once asked a cop if he ever pulled over any bikes and he told me, "They're normally going too fast for me to catch them even if I tried." I know it's not a good idea to speed but I normally see bikers going 15 to 20 miles over, if not more. . . .

most bikers around here just ride at the pace of the cage traffic. Usually only the squids get pulled over, and then its usually for doing something stupid

haha yep I got pulled over by a motor cop from the dept. I work for
He didn't know it was me since I had just started riding, but I don't think he was going to give me a ticket anyway. He was just going to talk to me for a bit about the dumb-@$$ move I had just pulled (unsafe turn next to a truck). Once I took my helmet off and he recognized me, we shot the dodo for a little bit. Best traffic stop I've ever had lol. Every time I've gotten pulled over in my cage, I've gotten a ticket.

I've been pulled over many times on my motorcycle... especially when I was young and dumb. I used to speed like a mad man everywhere I rode.

These days I keep it 10 or less over the posted on the freeway and 5 or less over on city streets. I did get nabbed last January doin' 26 over... that was a stupid move on my part. I wasn't paying attention to my speed and waltzed right into the ever-loving lazer of a local motorcop. He was the first cop I ever asked for leniency from... he cut me off mid sentence and just said "no way".

Oh well... I tried. I plead guilty, explained my stupidity to the judge and paid my fine. Since then I've really tried to be good an more importantly, set a good example. I only ever speed excessively when I'm runnin' up the freeway on ramp... gotta get up to freeway speed before you run outta room, you know.

Never been pulled over, but most of my friends who are sports bike riders have been several times. Most of the time there's been a rash of immature riders in the area, and they're doing random checks. If insurance, license, and registration checks out they're all good.

have been pulled over once....on my motorcycle...for lane splitting in Nevada. Had no idea it was not legal. The cop scares the crap out of me...pulled up behind me...and put on the loudest siren I have ever heard. Pulled over and turned off the bike...and my wife got off...as he approached she yelled at him "YOU SCRAED ME"...I was like "shhh" honey. Well got really lucky...he checked my license and asked if I knew what a ticket like this would look like on my commerical drivers license....?? I said "I would not want to know". He gave a message to pass onto my fellow riders...."Lane splitting in Nevada is ill-legal. Wow....I felt lucky....no ticket...just a little conversation.....
