Lurker finally starts posting!

Hey all. I started reading these boards back in the middle of last year when I started getting serious about getting a bike, then joined in Nov. Now I've had my bike (a Ninja 500r) for several months, and figured I could start throwing my $.02 into the mix without sounding completely stupid.
I'm a university student in CA and love riding. I'm still not comfortable enough to go out in rain, so this weather we've been getting in SoCal recently is killer, but I ride every chance I get.
