the seat heights are 37-39 inches...

is using a kid size dirtbike my only option if i wanna practice on a dirtbike?

Check out a TTR-125L. L being the bigger wheeled one. Smaller bike, low seat. OR an XR200R/TTR-225. Bigger than the 125cc bikes, but smaller than the 250cc bikes. Go with the TTR 225 if you can, front disk brake > front drum brake. TRUST me.

hmmm... TTR 225... i wonder if there's a dirtbike course around here that rents bikes.

slap some dirt tires on your bike, it should FLY off the jumps... the landings might hurt tho.

The TT-R 225 is no longer made.... It has been replaced with the TT-R 230
The same motor is on both bikes... just a different look and a little bit of difference in the suspension. I have owned both, and found the 225 to be a very easy bike to handle off road. It isn't going to do the jumps or wheelies like the bigger bikes, but is very forgiving and keeps on going. A great starter bike, and great all around bike if your only interested in riding around to see what is out where the pavement ends. For sitting and riding the 225 would be more comfortable than the 230 which was given some of the YZ styling, including the narrower seat. You should be able to pick up an old 225 fairly cheap... They aren't in high demand I don't believe.

I have always been partial to the XR's. I had an 80 when i was little then I moved to a 200 not to long ago. I am not to tall (5'9) and I fit on then just fine.

It all depends on what you are looking for it to do. I would fo with a 2 stroke if you want something really snappy. The 4 strokes are going to mimick a street bike the best. Plus if you want to go the extra route try a 450 and have some real fun.

I would kill myself on a 450.... Though I have thought hard about the Yamaha WR 450. I just started riding a little over a year ago when I was 36. I currently ride a TT-R 250 which I have already managed to break my leg on I am considering trading it on the WR 250.... It would preform much better than the TT-R but be much easier to control on the tight trails around me than the WR 450. Then again I may forget the off road and get a street bike....

A 450 is just like riding a 600 sportbike. You just need to really pay attention to the power. I have been riding them for about two years now. And I am only 19. But then again I used to race 125s when I was younger. I have just gotten into the quads. I now have a Polaris Predator 500. And that thing is all the power i need. I think it has more horsepower than some street bikes. It is pushing around 60-65 with the K&N filter and the Pure Polaris exhaust kit.

I agree, start off on a smaller dirt bike and keep working ur way up untill you get better and more confident learning how to ride one. Thats what I did, now I own the fastest, the Honda CRF450
