The squids are out
Two new squids in my neighborhood. Looks like they have GSXR-600's. Riding around without helmets, jackets, gloves, or boots. At least they're driving slow tho. Should I tell them about gear or let nature take its course?

you should give them a lecture. They might just roll their eyes at you or maybe they never really had anyone talk to them about it and the dangers..
I have a friend who just bought a 2002 Honda Shadow Spirit. Nice bike, not too much power for his second bike (had a honda CB400 for like 2 months last year) and wears the following safety gear - a fake thin leather jacket. Sometimes he just wears his work clothes (dress shirt, kahaki pants, dress shoes). Never wears a helmet cause he doesnt like how he looks in his dad's really old one - only one he has and he wont drop the cash on one. I even caught him on his cellphone talking while riding the other day.. To say the least, my friend is an idiot. Well, i "dog" at him daily to get proper riding gear and he only rolls his eyes, tells me that I dont ride yet so i cant give him advice about it.. I still try tho, and u should too, you dont want to read in the paper that they got in an accident and a helmet woulda saved their lives....

I dunno, I wouldn't walk up to a stranger and tell them that they need to wear the gear. If I ended up next to them at a traffic light or something I'd suggest they consider gear, and point out what can happen if they aren't wearing any. That'd be about it.
Around here, I make a point of sugesting the best gear possible, because the people who show up generally want to learn. So I give the best advice I can. However, it's not my job to make sure everyone wears it, or to try to scare people into wearing it. I'll shake my head, and hope that they don't go down.

Of course I'm generalizing from a single example here, but everyone does that. At least I do.

I personally would not go out of my way just to give them a speach. This is the kind of thing they should know by now and must understand the risks of riding with/without gear. As Sevulturus said, this is the kind of thing you may mention at a stopped light but unfortionatly don't expect them to listen either.

I hope you don't honestly mean that.ZooTech wrote:No more so than smoking or excessive drinking. You can't save the world so just look out for you and yours and let others be.SuperRookie wrote:The problem is that squidly behavior usually ends up carrying over and hurting other people as well.
