Icon helmets

#1 Unread post by t_bonee »

Anyone use one of the Icon Alliance helmets? I narrowed my choices down for my new helmet to 2. HJC CL-14 and the Icon Alliance.

I've been able to try on the HJC's and the fit well and my shades fit with the helmet on. I haven't found a local dealer that has Icon helmets to try on. I read a review that says it feels "remarkably similar" to a CL-12. So i'm gonna guess it will fit similar to the HJC on my noggin.

Just wondering if any has one and if shades fit under it.

Thanks.

i think that if shades fit under your helmet, the helmet probabaly is too big for you, or your shades have been "altered".

the helmet is supposed to fit snugly and uniformally over your entire dome.

What i have seen though, are helmets with slits built into them for your glasses or helmets to fit into.

i have a pair of cheapo sunglasses that i wear under my helmet. had to bend them to make them fit.

I think the design of the CL-14's and AC-11's is that there is wider eye space for better visibilty and room for sunglasses. At least thats how I read it.

When I tried it on, it fit well. Snug didn't slip on the head or pull off over it. The size down fit tighter but was more uncofortable on my cheeks. Pressing them a bit too hard for me.

New Enough has Icon Alliance helmets on clearance for $72 bucks + shipping. Helluva deal for a DOT and Snell approved full face. I bought one for the wife... it should arrive tomorrow.

Not all HJC helmets fit the same. I wear an xs in the AC-11, but an xxs in the new CL-SP model and the fit is not as good. The old CL models don't fit me properly either.
I wasn't a fan of the Icon's I have tried on. The plastic attachments seems cheap and look like they will break off easily.

Nothing fits as good as my new Arai. Fit and comfort are most important.

I've never tried on the Arai's or Shoei's. I don't come close to having that kinda budget to work with so I don't even wanna know what they feel like cause I can't afford it anyway.

that explains it LOL

I find that being able to see where im going is worth the small discomfort of having the glasses under my helmet
