Hi

Does anyone here ever tinted their sportbike windshield by themself. I dont want to buy a already tinted screen and i was asking myself if it can be done using car windows tint. Will the curve in the bike shield cause some air bubble..or can it be work properly around a bubble shape?

Not seen that done.

I haven't seen anyone tint with the film before. It can look like hell if it isn't done right. Maybe check with a tint shop - they probably have seen/done it.

There used to be spray-on tint. Not sure if it is still available, or how it would react to the platic(?) windshield.

Maybe check in with the guys on the Maintenance/Appearance board:

Yeah dude, I can't imagine that it won't look like sh*t in no time. How much can a smoked windscreen be anyway? Just check e-Bay.

I had the same thought, and looked at some of the kits to do this for auto use, and all of them said "not for plastics" in the instructions. Don't know exactly what the material on the windscreen on my YZF600R is, but it sure isn't glass. I was hoping to find the spray on stuff, but didn't, just the film.

I've seen tinted screens for my bike from $40 on up on eBay as someone else suggested, so I gave up on the idea of tinting it myself.

Yeah, just buy a new screen. Probably not all that much more expensive and if you don't like it/change your mind you can switch back.

If you already have the windscreen off and bring it into a tint shop they can probably do it really cheap most of the cost of tinting on cars comes from the labor of removing all the doorpanels and crap. Bring it in, the cost of tint and maybe labor for 1/2 hour shouldn't run you more then like 30$ 40$?
