Cleaning the chain

Sorry I cannot answer your question, but I have a similar one.
I bought a used Honda 250 this past March. Now, I notice that there is a bit of corrosion on the chain. How do I deal with it? Would a little WD40 be all that it takes to correct the matter? Or should I replace the chain? Should I do something else? If so, how much should what I need to do cost? But since this is my first bike, I do not want to do anything too stupid.
