I don't think the SBK riders would have a clue what oil was in their bikes. They leave all that up to the pit crews. They just get on and ride.

I hear tell that synthetic is one big scam.

Whatever you do though, don't put Pennzoil in your engine.
You may as well be lubricating your engine with K-Y.

You therefore know what I mean.
You ride a GSX-R1000 not an "SBK", no matter how much you would like to think otherwise.

i see... so until i install a PCIII, yoshi full system exhaust, öhlins suspension and steering damper, TRE, etc. my bike will not qualify as an SBK.

ok, so let me rephrase the question...

how much diff does running a full synthetic feel to you on your supersports?

I heard somewhere that synthetic oil shouldn't be used in a motorcycle until reaching a certain mileage. I don't know how true that is or what that mileage would be. I would assume that with synthetic it should allow you to have a longer interval between oil changes, but as far as it being "better" for your engine, I think that might be debatable. I certainly don't run a supersport, so what I'm saying might not apply here.

There are different thoughts on running synthetic. Some say it's the best thing for your bike others say it causes the clutch to slip. You have a wet clutch and if you're using an oil with ingredients that make it "Slipperier" then how will you clutch be affected???

Me, I don't have a clue, but if you run a good quality oil, and change it and the oil filter, every 2-3000km (12-1800 miles) then you should never have a problem. If you're running your bike hard, a more frequent interval would be appropriate.
