ok so i got some gear today. i found a bike shop with some really nice helpful people and the prices didnt seem ouragous

i got a bright yellow, mesh "3rd street" brand jacket. i have a question tho. it is a 2xl and it seems really baggy in the arms. the length is right and the pads are in the right places but thye just seem big. is this okay? i'l try to get some pics of me wearign it so you can all see what mean.


next i got a pair of "frank thomas" street gloves. they are sweet. they have little "hood scoops" on the knuckles and feel very comfortable to wear. also they were like $26 marked way down from about $55

i did not like the boots they had at the cycle store so i went to a mil-surp store and got some SWAT brand boots i think they are 8" tall with laces and zipper, they have air soles so they are no bad to walk in and should be pretty good for riding i think.

i get paid on friday so then i will go check out helmets then. but otherwise i think i have everythign i need (i am not planning on buying riding pants yet)

umm.. it eams like theres somethign i forgot...

oh yea.. i need a motorcycle!

i got confirmation that i am in "the class" for the last weekend of this month then i will get a bike after i finish the class (because im moving to a new crib with a garage to keep my toys in)

i cant wait...

please check back and i'll try to post some pics of me in the jacket so you can se what you think abotu the fit. it was on clearance and the price was right but i can take it back if its no good.

If the pads are in the right place you should be fine. I don't see a problem with baggy arms, but its hard to say without a pic. My jacket is loose in the arms, but it works fine. I have already had the misfortune of testing that out on pavement. The jacket definately worked tho & prevented a serious case of road rash.

Having not been able to test it personally, thankfully, I have heard you need a real tight fit on the arms and overall. What good is a jacket if the arm runs up or twists around during a slide? If the jacket isnt tight around the mid section it can run up as well when you slide.

i am definatly keeping the gloves, and i liek the jcket but im just worried it is not "safe" and why wear a jacket that wont protect me in the event of a sudden unplaned dismount from my whip. (am i allowed to call a motorcycle a whip?)

yeah, it looks a little too loose.

do you feel like the elbow armor is sliding up or down when you move around?

try grinding your elbows to a wall, see how it reacts.

That looks really loose to me, maybe you can have it taken in or something? Or get a better fitting jacket, that just seems wrong.

ok, i think i agree with you guys, that it is too loose. i think i will take it back and get something else that i feel fits a little better. but im keeping the gloves. and i'll try to ween myself from the use of the word "whip" to describe any motorzed vehicles.
