Succumbed to a new SV650S....damn...
Well guys, I just couldn't stop myself once I started drooling...
I got my first bike today from a nearby dealer. A brand new 2005 Suzuki SV650S - it was on a clearance sale so I saved about 800 off of what a new 2006 would have cost. Against my better judgmement, I decided to go new rather than pre-owned but I think there will be certain advantages that I wouldn't have gotten with used. I rode it home taking some back streets (making sure to stay off the main roads) with no problems at all. I took it out again in my neighborhood tonight.
THIS IS SO AWESOME! I wish I would have started sooner in life but I'm not gonna knock it - better late than never. I can already tell that the basic skills taught in the MSF will carry me a long way.
Just wanted to share it with you guys. I'll post an image as soon as I figure out how to get pics on my ISPs website.

awesome man, happy bike day. A little big for a first bike but more than doable if your safe about it. Get some pics up and keep the rubber side down, have fun

those are some funky looking plastics for an 650s man, id leave it mostly naked, more nautal and less to replace after a drop

I had a hard time deciding between the GS500F and the SV. As you can see, I ultimately went with the SV. For myself (I mean this in the best possible way), I am known to be very cautious and meticulous in most things I do - sometimes bordering on being anally safe. I will be sure to get plenty of practice in before I take to the major roads and highways.
