Does anyone have a good experience with a particular dealer here in AB? I will be making a purchase in the next month or so and would like to save some time dealing with idiots

Honda Extreme and Alberta Cycle both treated me very well.

Scona Cycle tried to molest me, so I walked.

All are located in Edmonton.

That was the most diplomatic way I could come up with to say it.

The short version is that I negotiated a deal with one of their dealers. Then when I went in to sign and pay, he didn't show up, he had, "motorcycle problems." And couldn't even bother to call.

I left, and he called me, and said the deal that we made couldn't go through because the boss said so.

So I got a yellow one instead of the matt black for $100 less then the "deal" and $400 less then they wanted me to pay.

I have been pissed at just about every dealer in Calgary at one point or another. G.W. Cycle is about the only one to have not done me wrong. They are all making so much $$ right now that there is no chance of dealing below the advertised price. Beware of all of the hidden fees not in the ads as well...

I'll second Sev's opinion about Scona Cycle. They don't need your business, and will make no bones about treating you exactly like they don't.

Alberta Cycle never did me any wrong, in fact they gave me free bikes when I was racing MX(so I may be a little biased ) and Riverside Cycle in St. Albert treat me like gold anytime I've been in the place, even though I have never bought a bike from them.... yet. If they have the bike I'm looking for when I am buying next time, they stand a good chance of getting my custom.

Riverside tried to talk me into a Marauder 800, when I expressed concerns that the Yamaha v-star 650 might be to big for me. Though he also suggest the LS650 Savage after I told him that the marauder was def. too big. I ended up buying one of those.

Thanks guys. At least I have a good idea of who to deal with. I checked out Cycle Works - the guy I was talking to was decent. Of course salesmen will try and sell the most expensive, but if they push it I walk.

I think a lot of Scona's business comes from their aftermarket. They have a huge back room for gear and parts. Why sell bikes when you can just stock everything but them, and sell that.

Most motorcycle dealerships rather suck. GW cycle wasn't too bad when I was buying gear. For parts/service/gear though I would highly recommend Universal Cycle in calgary. It's just a small shop, but the ppl are great. Medicine Hat moto sports isn't too bad (one dealer there was pretty helpful the couple times that I went there).
