Now I know the thoughts on this forum of wheelies and stunts, so please know from the outset thats not the theme of this topic. just a story and such, and actually a dismissal of the idea of wheeling. there goes the disclaimer, now to the wheely
thats right, the bottom of the front wheel was where the top should be. Actually it quite suprised me. I had been reading about where to put the RPMS and such that it would come up and all, so I had been trying to avoid those situations for the most part. but there were no cars around from my sight, I was in first with the rpms around midrange, which is where my svs gets its torque. usually I am forward on the seat for comfort, and even under hard acceleration the front has never come up. this time I was against the back of the seat, I wanted to see if the weight position mattered, and I did have my doubts. but with a 1/2 to 3/4 throttle application at a quick snap, the front came up and I backed off the throttle, fortunetly I didnt snap it shut or anything and the front came down nicely without landing hard. That was it, came up and went back down. A little startled and such I just kept going.
Honestly I dont think I'll bother doing it again. The conditions and such had to be so specific that I had to TRY to get it to come up, any other way and I would have just accelerated hard. I wasnt really all that impressed with the feeling or the coolness of myself at that point and it wasnt like a motorcycle 0rga$sm or anything, so theres no need to repeat it.

nice!

good thing that you didn't panic.

anyway, i need to get used to the feeling of the front wheel going up since my bike is prone to it.

it hasn't happened to me but i wanna do it on purpose so that i can anticipate it and so when i do it by accident... i won't panic since i've felt it before and i'll know what to do to bring the wheel back down smoothly.

be very carefull with your bike, mine would have gone quickly and such, but yours will have you going light speed in no time. That being said get to where you have a long straight stretch and experiment. despite the common bashing here I think its important to know what happens when the front goes up, for experiance and skill developing purposes. Your's more likely than mine, but knowing now gives me more confidence that it WONT happen and if it does that I can back out of it and be ok.

you are only a squid for doing that if you werent wearing a shirt while you did it, and then came off the wheelie and proceded to do a stoppie into a parked car.

cause thats how the squids roll.

Once you have been riding your bike for a long time a wheelie won't seem like a big deal and it will just feel "natural". If you want to practice them roll in first gear around 15-20mph and then accelerate a little faster than you normally do... keep doing that accelerating faster each time until it starts to pop up a little - just keep your foot over the rear break, if it comes up to high or too fast just tap the back break and the front wheel will go back down. If anyone has a sport bike and the wheel doesn't come off the ground sometimes they aren't using the bike to its potential :) If you plan on riding your bike hard once you are feeling comfy with it and as long as it accelerates smoothly I would say it's actually good to practice this so when you are riding hard/fast if the wheel pops up you won't panic.

They may not be using the bike to its potential but they are preserving their head bearings instead of grinding them into powder...

I had the front wheel up several times on the CeeGee and currently there are only two things stopping me wheeling the trike. 1) Jules would kill me and its her trike 2) It's so damn heavy I ma not suire it can wheelie...

I have no interest in starving my engine of oil or as stated previously, abusing my steering head bearings, but there is something about accelerating hard and feeling the front end lift an inch or three for the first couple of gear changes.
