Is the battery good? Just because the headlight lights up, doesn't mean you have enough charge to start the bike. Is the bike in gear? Most bikes won't start unless they're in neutral or have the clutch pulled in. This is going to sound stupid, but is the petcock in the "off" position?

Good points! :) Actually, I just like you saying petcock! These are probably the top 3 problems for a non-start. Beyond that it usually gets harder to diagnose and more costly to fix. Spark plug's are a good idea to replace...air filter, fuel lines. With a bike that old is there a chance of rust in the tank plugging your fuel lines? I've seen that before on older bikes.

it doesnt have gears it is a moped and i have been trying to start it using the kick start because the battery is now flat after trying to start by pushing the button, fuel is getting to the carb so i think that it will just need a new spark plug hopefully ill get a new spark plug tomorow and see what happens

Might just need to clean the one you got w. a wire brush. Carbon buildup will result in poor spark. :scooter: A bit of sandpaper works too.

Well, I'm not familiar with kick start bikes, but if the battery is dead, how are the spark plugs going to fire?
