5th gear sound on a 2000 Yamaha V Star 650 Classic
Hi all,
Picked up a 2000 V Star 650 Classic last weekend and Im curious about the sound of the engine in 5th gear. Im brand new to biking and it sounds completely different in 5th than it does in all other gears. Almost sounds tinny and like its gonna explode...Might be a crazy question but Ive never ridden a street bike before.
Thanks,
John

Don't know much about the 650; I've only put about 600kms on my 1100, and it's my first Vtwin.
Mine really never sounds 'tinny'. On the highway around 120kms it does rumble like it's going to explode. At first, I was concerned, but then again, I'm used to the sewing machine sounds of inline 4's. Asked around and found that this is quite normal for the Star Vtwins and I'm really not pushing it that hard.
