who out there has love for the big TV's?

in january of this year i decided i wanted a new TV for my livign room to replace the 19" (not even flat screen) picture tube TV i had since i was about 15. so i go to the store to look at 26ish inch TV's but i keep seeing these tri-hugent (yea- 3 times as big as huge) TV's and as a man, albeit one with very little self control when it comes to toys, decide that nothing less than 42" wil be suitable. sooo.. i now have a 50" plasma HDTV.

but wait theres more...

i already had basic cable and the "slower" cable internet

but now i have digital cable, hi-def, the fastest cable internet available in this area, and a DVR box (like tivo but its only $5 a month) and so while all my freinds are watching the simpsons on analog cable on 17" tv's. i woke up this mornign and watched a few episodes of Family Guy from the DVR (i watch when i want to not when the shows are on) and then i watched womens vollyball in hi-def (oh-sweet-mother-of-pearl!)

If you have digital cable and dont want or cant afford hi-def (i do recomend it) at least spring for a DVR box. it totally changes the way i watch TV. i just set it to record anything i want to watch by pressing one button on the remote, then if iwake up at 4AM and get tired of ron popille and the girls gone wild infomercials, i can check out family guy or the simpsons or one of my new favorites "trick my truck" on CMT.

post here if you have love for the plasma's, LCD's, big inches, hi-def, DVR, surround sound, and all the other things that remind me that there is a God and he wants me to be happy. (he made womens vollyball in hi-def! c-mon!)

I'm with Wizzard on this one. Problem is... I'm one of the biggest TV addicts around. I was the classic 70's kid with two working parents and a TV babysitter.

I intentionally keep nothing more than a 25" TV with stereo speakers. We've had this TV for 7 years, and it was our first new TV ever. I'd like to get a larger, nicer TV, but I'm too afraid of how much more time I'll end up watching the thing. Plus, if I had a larger TV in the living room, I might be inclined to put the 25" TV in the bedroom - NOoooooooo.

The newer TVs are very cool - I stare at them in the stores. I'm glad it's in your home though, and not mine. Enjoy the extra big images (especially on Volley Ball event shows!).

27 inch regular 5 year old sears special here...works for me... although my home theater surround system set me back a few grand *L

Id love a flat screen wall mount plsma, but then Id have a entertainment center with nothing in it..and it would bug me. *L

i spend more time riding than watching trash on tv.
same mindless trash no matter what size tv the commercials have talked you into.

it was about $2,100 from best buy. a little more if you include the cost of the stand it is mounted on, and the cables to make it run hi-def.

i got financing on it that has no interest till 2009 and i will have it paid off long before that, but its cool they send me bills for like $12 a month (i send them about $200 every month and its almost paid off cause i put some money down on it as well).

this one is technically a plasma projection so its 50" widescreen, but it is 13" deep. but thats cool, it has a better picture quality than a lot of the 4" thick straight plasma units, and it was about $1000 cheaper.

Congrats man! I have a 52" widescreen....love it for watchin movies!

I would love to have a HDTV that size, but I'd just end up running my computer through that and playing computer games on it. As it stands I could do that with my current TV, but since it's not high def I lose the ability to read text. Sigh.
