some random ramblins

Ok, I've lost count of how many times some cager pulled out in front of me. It basically doesn't surpsise me anymore. And every time that happens I get very discouraged. But if I don't ride for a couple of days I get withdrawal symptoms.

I went on the highway today. Not very far. Went north for about 5 minutes, then turned around and went home. It wasn't quite as scary as my first highway ride back in Toronto. I hit 70mph, and it's the first time I used the sixth gear (yeah, I know that's lame). There was quite a bit of crosswind, but my sv was a lot more stable than the rental ninja 250. Is it just because of more weight?

I'm about to hit 1000 miles. (Well, I already hit it if you count the rental bikes). I wanted to go on a longer ride this weekend and hit it, but it didn't work out.

I sat on gsx-r 600 at the dealership. I was able to flat foot it, which is odd since I can't quite flat-foot f4i or zx-6r. But the sitting position is more forward than on sv650s. I don't think I'd be comfortable on that. (from what I understand, you are not supposed to rest your weight on the handlebars). The seat is hard as a rock. (do you have an iron butt Verm?). And it also has an odd-looking exhaust.

the longest non-stop freeway ride i've had is only around 70 miles.

but my butt started to hurt after 50 miles.

anyway... i just changed my riding positions when my butt hurts even if im only going straight on the freeway.

ARRRRGHHH! :x

i want to get a new bike NOW!

Not at all and don't let anyone tell you different, The important thing is you learn at your own pace and don't try to push yourself too far too fast.

I love it. It's a blue 2002 model. I actually like 99-02 look better than the 03+. The newer look is more edgy, but the older is more smooth and curvy. Anyway, it is noticebly more torquey than anything else I rode, and it still occasionally gives me a jolt if I dump the clutch too fast. But I have tamed it. The seating position is surprisingly comfortable: it is somewhat forward-leaning, but not so extreme that you are laying on the gas tank. And I can flat-foot it. When I started riding it I realised 2 things: 1) this is about the limit of what I can handle safely, 2) it will last me a very long time (unless I decided to move and have to sell it).

The only thing I don't entirely like is that it's half-naked. Yes, the exposed engine has its charm, but I still prefer the plastic. (yes, flame away). I might get the aftermarket fulll fairings for it. On the other hand, it is much easier to service. For example, to change the oil, there is literally *two* things you need to unscrew: the bolt underneath the engine and the oil filter.

Oh yeah, I'm getting 45 mpg commuting to work, which is awesome!

I hear ya on that one. I sat on the 2k6 gsxr-600 and 1000...Suuuuper uncomfy for me. My butt gets a little sore just on my little jaunts through town on my GS sometimes; so I can't imagine riding on that.

And I actually like the exhaust of the new gsxr...kind of neat lookign :)
