Hi Guys!!
I have a question. I have been riding bikes for nearly 6 years. But the max I have gone upto is 350cc.
Now I am planning to buy a used 1000RR. Have always dreamed of owning one.....Any inputs would be appreciated....
cheers

The Smart way to go up to a bike that size is in increments.
For Eg, 250, 500, 1000 etc etc.
Leaping from 350cc to 1000cc is a big step that could own you very quickly.
But if you decide to do it anyway......Start slowly & take it easy until your familiar with your new machine.
Good Luck.

do you race, or go to track events? or is this a commuter to/from work/school? or pleasure on the weekends.
i PERSONALLY could not justify the insurance on a bike like that unless i was going to ride the "poo poo" out of it.
not to say that you cant handle a bike like that, but is it worth it to you to pay for a bike like that.
just my 2 cents.

let me tag a question along on this subject? Too big of a jump in sport bikes? Or bikes in general?
Maybe I just got lucky...but my 1st biker ever was a 1200 Sportster....and I had No saddle time ever....

As long as you have the fundamentals down, I don't think it's that big of a deal. One of my more sane riding buddies lept from a Ninja 250 to a Hayabusa. He's one of the better riders in the area, since he learned all his skills from the 250.

1000RR is a nice bike. If you think you're ready, go for it.

As a general rule...as long as your feet reach the ground when you stop, the bike isn't too big for you. A particular word of caution would sound like this..'when the cc of the engine, exceeds your I.Q....Hold on real tight', Use some common sense the first few times out, and you'll be OK. Learn the feel of the bike, and how it responds to different situations. That is....make sure you can handle it under all driving and traffic conditions.
A special word of caution I like to share with all riders, new and old...When you think you are in toal control of your bike...it's time to park it and leave it alone. Over confidence has killed a lot of bikers over the years. Never think it can't happen to you.
