Dilemme about taking MSF class

What's up TMW!

I was surfing google, reading about motorcycles and what not, and happen to run across this forum. So far, I've learned a lot from the posts and stickies.

Anyways, I have a quick dilemma that I'm stuck on.
I finish my last final on the 14th and I go home (SoCal -> NorCal) on the 14th or 15th. And then I go back to SoCal on the 15th because summer-school starts on the 16th.

Right now I'm looking at the MSF schedule and right now I can take the class on June 16, 19, 20 or June 22, 24, 25. I want to sign up for class sometime today or tomorrow because the spots are filling up by the minute.

Anyways, my dilemma is...should I take the MSF class in June? Only to have to go back to school in a couple days and not get a motorcycle.

Or should I take the class after I come back from summer-school (not exactly knowing when that would be) and possibly have more time to practice riding in the parking lot.

I would really like to get my license and a motorcycle, but I don't want to take the class only to risk forgetting something essential. What do you guys think?

thanks.

ur dates are confusing me but set aside.

i took my course in novemeber just got my bike last month.... so that was a good 5 month stretch, and trust me you wont forget it, everything really stuck with me. pay attention in class, ask questions, do your mistakes in the class to learn from them.

i would just say knock it out

I can't tell you from experience, but I doubt you will forget what you learn, or if you do, you will re-learn it quickly when you do start riding. Plus, it will allow you to get started quicker when you do get to ride, so you won't have to wait (waiting sucks, especially if you're as impatient as me).

Sorry for the confusion with the dates. I hope this can kind of clarify a little bit..

Image

Yellow = dates I will be in NorCal
Circle/Box = MSF classes I could take
White = dates I will be in SoCal

But either way, from the sounds of it, both of you recommend taking the class before I start summer-school. And camthepyro, I'm exactly like you...I'm pretty damn impatient about certain things and this is one of them. I'm just excited / eager to get started.

Thanks for your help

Get your priorities straight… drop out of summer school and start riding right away!

16, 19, 20... otherwise if you miss a day or something you won't have time to take the next available class.

Take the class first and get it out of the way. You'll have the book to review later if you think you'll forget something.

Glad to hear you are taking the MSF first.

Next, go here:
www.CaliforniaBikeNights.com/learn

That is a page I made with tons of advice on learning to ride. It will tell you everything to do, step-by-step and even goes over saftey gear, just like you wanted to learn about next.

Best wishes and enjoy.
