Howdy all! I'm coming up on 40 and been in Texas most of my 40 years. Gas prices have finally made me decide that a motorcycle might just be what I need. Made my first trip into a bike dealer the other day just to see what's out there and what I can expect to pay. Came away with a lot of questions answed and a few more questions to ask. Glad I found a resource like this to get some of those questions answered!
Scheduled to start my safety course on April 21st and will be looking for a bike soon after that (please bear with my ignorant questions in the meantime

). We have pretty good weather down here year round so hopefully I'll get some miles racked up pretty soon after the class.
'preciate all the helpful folks here!

Hi Coffee, I'm fairly newish here too. I live southern UK. Just out of curiosity how much is unleaded fuel there, where you are? We pay up to 90p a litre. thats £4.05 per gallon. And I envy you living in a sunny part of the world. Here last weekend was lovely and sunny about 17c. but this weekend coming its going to be down to just 6 or 7c. Always looking for days to go out on bike. Good luck with your biking....enjoy and have fun.

barmy_carmy,
Gas here has been running about $2.15 (US). Acording to the online currency calculator that seems to be about 1.14526 GBP (if that makes sense to you... I'm not used to converting).
Weather is about 72 degrees (F) today where I'm at (that's about 22 degrees C) with clear skies. Great outdoors weather.
Thanks for the well wishes,
Coffee

Idid that converter thingy, I worked it out that £4.05 = $7.61 Thats how much a gallon of unleaded fuel, and diesel or 4p more. Totally ridiculous amount of money.
And as for your weather its sounds Lush. Where as me I can only dream of those temperatures.

Welcome, Coffee! I'm sure a lot of folks are thinking about bikes right now, with fuel costs rising like they are. I think after you've ridden for a while, though, the fuel savings will be just an afterthought. The smile factor will likely be far more important!
Enjoy the site!

Gas prices help with justification for the spouse.
The smile is for me.
Although I asked my wife what she thought about selling the boat and getting a sailboat......
