Dear Folks,
This is my first post and I'm looking for some directions. I traded off my Suzuki Savage this afternoon and upgraded to a lovely Honda VT750DC twin. I would like to know if in this website there is a Honda Forum to ask questions about my bike.
Some simple questions: 1. What kind of mileage have people been getting on this bike? 2. What is the horsepower of this engine? 3. It has 3000 miles on it and what to do I need to pay attention to? 4. Any thoughts about positives or negatives of this bike.
It sure beats the heck out of the Savage. I look forward to hearing from somebody.

well, i have the 2001 Spirit and love it and i imagine they are pretty similar.
for me i get about 200kms before i fill it. that's mostly city and i have yet to get into the reserve so i imagine it could go farther if i wanted to.
things to watch out for are spending lots of money on add ons. for some shadow riders it's an addiction/passion to be able to trick their bike out since there are so many things available.
not sure the actual HP but you could probably google it.
i've had nothing but good times with mine, about the only negative for me is that crosswinds seem to move me around a fair amount. this might be normal, but since this is my first bike it seems like it might be a bit light for me.
also it is a bit underpowered riding two up on the highway for my liking but then again i am pretty heavy (230lbs or so).
this bike is excellent for the city and crusing around and Honda should be good mechanically for a long time. (My brother's shadow he got in the late 80s was still running last summer when he sold it off and got a bigger bike)

I've got the 05 Shadow Aero, and I love it as well. I'm sure it's very similar to your bike. As for help with your bike, there are dozens of Honda riders here, along with tons of experianced bikers who can advise you regardless of your bike. Welcome to the forums.

All I can say is that I bought a new Honda Shadow VT1100 Spirit in 2002 and I love it. I'm sure you'll find you made the right decision.

I have a friend that has the exact bike and model year. Nice Retro Indian look. He says its about 38hp to the wheel. He says he gets 55-80+ mpg (I don't know myself). He said as stock he couldn't get better than 55 but after messing with gear ratios he can get almost 80 if he rides sensibly. ITs 4 years old and only 3k miles I would just change out all fluids check cables and be ready to have the time of your life. Nice bikes if you like cruisers, not much get up and go but more than enough for any application.

Welcome dude... I just bought an 06 Spirit 750 last weekend as well... I am guessing mileage (not counting the reserve which is about 30 miles) is 42-48 mpg... I think highway speeds you will probably get better although I was WOT for most of my first week after the 300 break in... The tank is pretty small so at about 120 start looking for gas... In terms of HP i read somewhere its 44 or something that realm....
Watch your wallet as Bok said as Modding them is an addiction... I have already ordered pipes, seat, turn signals, tail light and a bunch of chrome dress up parts like grips and pegs...
Here are two sites to get you started
www.shadowriders.net
www.thespiritworld.org
Enjoy your new bike....
