hi im 16 and new to motorcycles, my father bought me a honda rebel 250cc and told me i can never have a car or a bigger bike . anyways i dont really like the bike i think it makes me look kinda sissy since its soo small and sounds like a mo-ped and i was wondering if there was a way to beef up the exhaust sound. ive heard of taking out that baffling but i dont want to try that yet i would really like to buy a new exhaust, and thats what i need help with, what do i look for? can i only buy exhaust made for the honda rebel? i am a little motorcyle retarted but i could easily install my own new exhuast if i could have help finding one.

I am surprised that you think your Rebel sounds like a moped. I was alway pleasantly suprised when I fired my Rebel up and it sounded like a big bike.

The Rebel is not a sissy bike, it has more power than your BMX and your skateboard combined. Learn to ride it well, and when you turn 18 you can get a big bike and ride with the big boys.

everyone has told me that i guess its just self conscienceness getting at me but i did find some nice looking jardine pipes that i think i may buy they look really cool.

Keep in mind that if you change the exhaust, you may have to change the jetting in the carburetor, depending on the pipes that you get - the exhaust manufacturer should be able to help you out with that.

yank the baffles. Itll give you the sound you want, although the cops might look at you a bit closer. depends on the noise laws in your area.

And remember, it's your FIRST bike, not your LAST. And get a jorb so you can afford a new one in a while or a car.

whats the pricing on changing the jetting and carb i have a cycle shop quit close to my house and they could do it if i knew the pricing.

Your going to be spending a bit of cash too do that, but if you (or daddy) have some money to burn, do it. and it looks like your going to have a bidding war on those BTW.

All you have to do is call the shop and ask for an estimate. They should be able to give you a ball park estimate. You should also ask them what effects the exhaust system will have on the bikes performance, lost or gained power and what not. You should be very clear with them about what you are looking for in your modification, the shop should be able to tell you what the results will be. The e-bay ad says your Rebel will look like a Harley, but it doesn't say it will sound like one.
