FZ600 Carb problem

I just recently bought a 1988 FZ600 for 350$ not running. The guy hasnt ridden the bike since '01, and its been sitting in his garage ever since. First thing I did for the bike was pull the battery out and replace it. I pulled the carbs off and took awhile cleaning them. Everything in the carb seemed to work fine. The needles and floats were fine. Although everything in the carbs were completely gunked up. Anyways, I put back on the carbs and put on the gas tank. After turning on the gas, I noticed that the overflow from the carbs just poured out gas. I'm guessing this is the carbs. What could be the problem in this?

By the way, I decided to try and start up the bike with the little gas that was in it, and after a couple tries it fired up :). A little rough, but hey, after 5 years, what can u expect?

Thanks.

Probable need to replace needle/seat assy if they were the rubber tipped kind. The tip should be a perfect triangle, no divots from sitting in the seat. It is possible you have trash in between the needle and seat. Lightly tap on the float bowl to try and clear.

FZ600's carbs are notorious for their needle jets leeking. What I would suggest is to change the 25¢ O-Ring they are probably leeking exactly like mine used to.
