okay so i know alot about cosmetic mods...and the only one i know of that kind of helps performance is changing the stock exausts.

on an ex500...what performance mods are there that i can do?

high flow intake, full exhaust, re-jetting. Probably the only mods worth doing. Not to bash on the bike, but would spending tons of $$$ on engine internals worth it? Doesn anyone even MAKE high-comp pistons, bore kits, etc for the thing? Well... Okay, some higher compression pistons might be kinda cool, but unless you do it yourself, it's gonna be costly to have it rebuilt.

One or two mods will probally cost less than a whole new bike tho no?

wow, i have no idea what half that stuff you said are....unless it's pretty simple like taking the fairing off and unscrewing some stuff, i can do it myself...otherwise i just don't do it....labor so so friggin expensive...i'm still 500 miles late on my oil change and maintenance.

P.S. if anyone knows a good guide onling about doing the maintanance or even a semi-meintance by myself...please let me know.

LOL yeah, sorry. I have a habbit of assuming people know "poo poo" like that. This is the cheap stuff on that list:

New intake, be it pod filters, or a high-flowing OE styled filter (K&N and Uni make that stuff) a full exhaust upgrad (muzzy is a big one for kawasakis i believe) and a re-jet kit.

But here's the thing. It's a 500cc straight 2. The power gains aren't going to be all that big. BUT it'll sound better at the least while still running proper. Though i say go fer it! Oh yeah, if you do go for it, shot around some, they may or may not have the best prices. Free shipping on orders over $100 though.

about the exausts....i know that titanium is REALLY expensive...but is it worth getting? and if not titanium, whats the best as far as performance goes? does it make a big difference?

nope.

The titanium is lighter than the stainless steel and lasts longer than the carbon. Aesthetics seem to be the only major difference though between the three.

Well lightening the exhaust will slightly increase performance, as the bike now has less to shift.

As for carbon vs Titanium... aesthetics. Mostly related to look, but sound as well, Titanium will be higher pitched, and carbon has more of a deep note to it.

And reason #77 not to finance a small bike to learn on.

And if your 500 miles overdue for your first oil change on a new bike...sheesh.
