I'm fairly new to motorcycles. But I was wondering do you guys ever have people messing with your bikes? That was always one of my concerns about owning one; like people knocking over your bike, scratching it up, vandalizing it, etc. Has anyone ever had situations like that?>

i fear this all the time. but so far during the day and such no one has messed with it (to my knowledge) but at night i would definatly be cautious watch where you park, how long your going to keep it out of sight, what kind of nieghborhood/part of town your in

I live in an gated apartment complex that has underground parking and also outside parking. However neither is any safer than the other; I got my car broken into, had my audio system stolen along with some of my belongings, and my housemate had the convertible top of his S2000 sliced open and some stuff stolen while he was parked in the underground garage. So it's not all that safe despite the false sense of security provided by the gates. Are there anything you guys can do to protect your bikes other than putting them in a private storage?

Nope. Never had that problem. But then again, I live in a great neighborhood too.

put a loud audible alarm with a remote in your possession that will tell you if your alarm is going off and for what reason . I myself will be driving to work every night so will be bringing a bike cover for my bike when I eventually get one (a bike). I work 3rd shift so I have no choice but to park it right in front of the security camaras where I work .

If you have an underground parking complex as well as another vehicle, I would just park my bike behind my cage every night (between the wall and the car). Also, look into a bike lock, I just bought an OnGuard one for about fifty bucks....it locks on to the brake caliper and prevents the tire from being able to do a complete spin.

I feel your pain about those underground parking. My car and my roommates car were both broken into...then a few days later an Escalade parked next to us was smashed in and the tv's were all ripped out.

We bought a camera off ebay and hooked it up..one of the cordless ones. got really boring watching it all the time since we didn't record...but if ya get a few drinks in ya, its not that bad.

you said house mate so i assume you live in a house, can you bring it in at night, i live in an aparmtment thankfully on the first floor and i just bring it in every night, its a "dog" but yea i dont want people stealing it or "procreating" with it

I meant to say apartment-mate. Odd how I can call someone a housemate when we live in the same house, but there isn't a short/brief way of saying we live in a apartment together but do not share a bedroom.

When I was in high school, this would have been 1992, I was the only one that rode a motorcycle to school...my 1983 VT500FT Ascot, which I adored. We were in home room, first thing in the morning, when our yearbooks came out.
As I was thumbing through it, One of my girl "buddies" told me that my bike was pictured on page 99. Excited, I flipped to it right away.
What I found was this preppy *female dog* posing for a picture on it. I lost my *bowels*!
I stood up in the middle of class and just starting ranting...I mean some evil, foul, beligerent words were streaming from my mouth. The teacher tried to calm me down but must have seen I was quite serious, and let me get it out of my system.
Word must have gotten to this prissy little c**t, because as hard as I tried, I never once ran across her!
So, what is the point I am trying to make...darn, not quite sure. Just took a stumbling trip down memory lane...thanks.

I'm waiting for the day I find someone "procreating" with my bike when I walk out to it after work.
