Where do you put your camera?

Haven't seen this topic in a long time but I was riding around the other day and saw a herd of deer and thought; "It would be nice to have a camera about now".

Then I realized, where the hell would I put the thing. Our camera is very "bulky" so I figure for semi-sporty bikes without bags (SV650) the cargo area is way too small. So if you're sporting a sport bike, where do you keep your camera?

Or do you prefer to carry it in your jacket if it's an ultra slim camera, which in case recommend me a new camera that's slim! :D It's always fun spending money on toys right?

its called a cell phone camera. you probably carry a cell with you when you ride, so why not carry a camera phone.

i almost always had a backpack on when i was riding, was either going to school or work or a buddys house and always had to stuff to bring so a backpack works for me.

Why not use cell phone camera?
(to paraphrase)

Because the image quality sucks?

I want to mount a rack on the rear to hold my pelican camera case... I'd use the tank bag, but the camera and lenses are worth about 3x as much as the bike and I don't like the idea of not having them at least slightly protected.

ahh your talking about professional grade camera equipment. I was thinking of just a simple digital camera to haul along to snap a few pics

not really pro grade... I just find taking a picture I can't make prints of to be really frustrating. My gear is just high-end amateur stuff... but there have been times when I've spotted something really nice/interesting/beautiful, pulled over, taken some pictures, and wound up printing, framing, and hanging them in my office or home.

Not pro grade? Lenses that are worth more than your bike seem pretty good to me

ah yes, i too thought you just meant like a cheapo digital camera. If you have a really nice camera with a pelican case, think about getting a rack attached the rear of your bike, much like the kawasaki KLR650 has. Though, if there are in a pelican case couldnt you just put the case in a saddle or tank bag, i thought those things were indestructable.

I know a few people who have simply mounted Pelican cases to the rear rack...

if you can make out the individual deer in the herd, you arent riding fast enough.
j/k

what about adding a hard bag to the back?

i have an olympus 3.2mp digi-cam that takes BEAUTIFUL photos in natural light (not so much inside with the flash) but it was $300 brand new, and i bet this model is probably less than $150 now (olympus stylus 300).

good luck and ride safe.
