Final drive/Clutch issue

#1 Unread post by kyle »

I've got my bike up on the center stand, rear wheel off the ground. Pull the clutch in, hit the start button, and everything starts fine, but the rear wheel and chain are in motion.

While I've got the clutch in, shouldn't they be stationary?

That's just clutch drag. The parts turning in cold oil will spin the rest of the clutch if there is no force stopping them, like having the wheel off the ground. It is much less pronounced with warm oil, but it is always there in a wet clutch system.

Nothing to worry about.
