How does THIS 'mute' the illegalvlegal debate?

If anything it makes it worse! We're supporting these kids with taxpayer dollars, children of minorities who are not here legally. It's a burden we can't afford. Children's best interests or not, they need to go back to Mexico and come here legally.

Immigration is a problem because the US is too nice and forgiving and accomodating to illegal immigrants. At the very least, they should be automatically deported. But we let them stay, give them drivers licenses, welfare, etc. It's ridiculous if you ask me. Any other country in the world wouldn't put up with it, but we do in our vast liberal effort to treat everyone "fairly". I don't have anything against immigration, my grandmother is mexican, and immigrated here, but she did it legally. It's illegal immigration that bothers me.

What really bugs me is people (not necessarily you though, CNF) get more fired up over paying for illegal immigrants than paying for a war ... and I bet we pay a hell of alot more for a war.CNF2002 wrote:We're supporting these kids with taxpayer dollars, children of minorities who are not here legally.

And Cam, living in Italy (A semi-socialist state) I can tell you that here the illegal immigrant problem is pretty much equal to the one in the states, except they come on boats across the med and adriatic seas.
I was once riding in a Taxi in Rome, and I commented to the driver how surprised I was to see all of the Chinese restaurants and Chinese stores/vendors. Even the Illegal immigrants selling things on the streets are selling Chinese made products (Like copies of designer brand purses/belts/sunglasses, etc) He went off on a rant about how the area we were driving through was very successful mom n pop places - but Mom n Pop had kids and treated their kids to everything they never had as children.
End result kids got lazy, lived off Mom n Pop's success and didn't take over the family business. Immigrants (illegal or not) moved in and took over. He felt that he was losing his counry due to the laziness of the new generation.
You could say that part of our immigrant problem in the states is due to much the same reason. Many find jobs that we just don't want - and those voids will be filled if there is a demand for them to be filled. I think that's part of the reason why we are so accomodating and forgiving. If we had mass deportations, what would happen to some of our basic services? You think terminally unemployed Americans, who have been sitting on their a$$es for the last how many years are going to get up from their beer, pot, n cigs and say "Gee I feel like getting a job now?" Highly unlikely, I think.
I wish there was an easy solution, but until we become less lazy (as a nation) I doubt anything serious will ever happen.

If these children were not educated what do you think they'll be doing when they grow up ? Prolly they'll be comitting crimes & getting locked up so we'll be paying for them anyway. Prison costs more than education.CNF2002 wrote:How does THIS 'mute' the illegalvlegal debate?

This whole immigration thing is a red herring. Immigrants aren't stealing the jobs from Americans nor are they draining the govt coffers. We should be asking where is all the tax money going ? And some people are asking that. This is the govt's response. "Hey its those illegals eating all the tax money". Because, we know its much easier to pick on those who won't protest. If the govt said its all those fat cats pulling down $20 million salaries those people will protest.
With the amount of wealth in the USA we should be able to educate everyone on the planet. Problem is the govt doesn't spend our tax money on the correct things. With that said they still want even more of our money. This is crazy. Govt takes our money then they try to bargain with the citizens with that money which was ours to begin with.
Basically, we are getting mugged and the mugger is saying how much can I keep that will make you happy & forget this ever happened ?
I've noticed that the govt & politicians have this sense of entitlement to our money. That is extremely arrogant. These clowns should be looking for ways to lower taxes at all times instead of raising them. They need to realize that the money they collect was never theirs to begin with. No one I know willing gives money to the govt.
When we do get a tax cut everyone is happy ? Hell I don't want them taking the money to begin with.
