About to get a ninja 250 and was wondering if it is practical to ride long distances. Like bout 150 miles without stopping.. Mostly highway with light to moderate traffic..If anyone that has this bike can tell me how far they've gone it would be much appreciated. And how the ride was.
Thanks in advance

There are people who have done repeated 1000+ mile days on their ex250. 300 miles seems a lot more common. Most of the distance riders either have a sheepskin buttpad or have reshaped the seat to fit them better. They also tend to have replacement (homebuilt or built by another ex250 rider) windshields that provide a bit more protection than stock.
Personally, I've done 2.5 hours of actual riding on my stock 250... though a lot of it was stop-n-go and city traffic so it wasn't all that far.

As a general rule...I ride from fill up to fill up..about 220-240 miles.
If the better half is on board, I gotta stop every 80-100 miles , or every other yard sale.
I do at least one Iron Butt run every year that's 1000 miles in 24 hours.
Just ride till your butt gets too numb to sit, and you can't think right.

It just depends on how comfortable you are - it's different for every person on many types of bikes. I take trips to Michigan to visit friends - takes about 6 hours to get there, and once I've rested for an hour, we all take off again on our bikes for some local riding.
Just start taking longer and longer rides and see how you feel. Ride away from home for two hours, and then ride back. Then you'll know what four hours feels like - that sort of thing. If needed, maybe invest in a butt pad or hand grip cushions (my husband has those on his bike). You'll eventually get a good feel for your personal limits in the saddle.
Cheers,
Loonette

As of yesterday my longest trip is 135 miles. Took me 3.5 hours due to road construction and 35 miles of f#$ing city traffic (I hate southern california). My butt was sooooore though. I guess It's just gonna be one of those things I get used to.

Bike goes on reserve at 130-140 miles, that's when I stop. Most miles in one day so far was 245.

I've done a couple 500 mile trip in a day without any real stops (I don't count gas as a stop) and my bike should be pretty similar to yours.
It all comes down to personal tolerances.

I've gone 300 in one day on a geocaching trip but probably no more than 150 without stopping. My butt gets pretty sore after a while but what really kills you is your right hand.

Depends on the rider and the bike. I rode my CX500 to Detroit and thought I was gonna die! In contrast, a 1019-mile 3-day trip on the Mean Streak left me feeling good enough for another thousand miles.
