I keep seeing these bikes coming up and I am curious as to what people's opinions are about them. They seem to be in competition with each other and I'd like to know what is good about them or if there is anything better about one than any of the others.

I would get the SV650, unless you can afford to buy new, then get the 650R.

Honda 599, or SV650.

I've read some bad stuff about the FZ6, and when I sat on it... well lets just say "the boys" didn't enjoy the combination of a sloped seat and raised gas tank.

Fz6 by far. If you want more like a sportbike in terms of performance then the fz6 does it. The seating position is just as good as the 599 with the sv being the worst IMO. The fz6 has just enough fairing to block off that wind that wants to raise you off the bike. I have ridden many a naked bike without any wind protection and going 75mph + is no fun (literally) if your over 6 ft like me. The fz6 gives you excellent quality and features for the price. Many of people have asked me this question and at first I was with the 599 but for the features and overall quality and usability I will have to say the fz6. This is coming from a Honda fan true and true. Most of my bikes have benn and are Hondas and most of my cars are/were hondas.

The Ninja 650R is the best for beginners of that group. It is easy to ride and very predictable. The SV650 is just a tad peppier, but as a result not as user friendly. They are both good bikes.

I looked at the Ninja 650 at a dealer, its a cheap, generic bike, personally I would be embaressed to be seen riding it. Thats my personal opinion

...and i liked the 650R, it was comfy to sit on and the short midship style exhaust was nicer than the side mounted half exhaust on the new gsxrs in my opinion.

biggest downfall on the 650R is it's brand spankin new so not much out there for "extras" yet, but i think it's a not bad machine, probably a lot of fun to ride too.

Yeah, if I was up for a sporty bike like that I might be eye-balling one of those Truimph 675s. The review are all stellar.

those 3 bikes couldn't be any more different from each other.

the ninja 650R and naked SV650 compare well to each other, both are standards that are designed to be resonably friendly to new riders, but have enough performance to keep an experienced rider happy.

the SV650S is comparabe to the ninja 650 and naked SV650 in performance but has much more aggressive ergos.

the FZ6 has a pretty comfy riding position like the ninja 650 and naked SV650, but has quite a bit more performance than the 650 twins. the FZ6 is basically a 600 sportbike with a comfy riding position.

the honda 599 falls into the same category as the FZ6, but is friendlier to shorter riders and has no fairing.
