Job update

Hello everyone! It's been awhile since I posted here. Here's my current situation after shutting down my trash business in January. I looked, and applied for work through january and most of February. Then I heard of a chance to get into a wire manufacturing plant here, through a temp agency. I turns out this place is very difficult to get into. On a friday in February I applied at the temp service. The next monday I got a position! That same day, I was offered a job I interviewed for the week before, and on tuesday another one I had interviewed for in January! The timing was very interesting. I also interviewed for and got a supervisor job at Tyson later, but turned it down because of the hours (3pm-1am six days) conflicting with life itself. Actually every job I have interviewed for I'v ended up turning down for timing or some other obvious reason that wasn't apparent until they offered it...never for pay, though.
As you folks know, I am a Christian, and not afraid to say so. I have been blessed with a certain amount of musical talent/skill in a few different instruments including vocal music, and have long felt called to use those gifts for the ministry. In December, right before I became unemployed, I met a guy wanting to start a Christian rock band. We started with just us, and almost immediately (two weeks of just praying) Became a 5-piece band with bass, drummer, two guitars and me on vocals/percussion. Both guitarists also sing. The assembly of the players had little to do with us, and everything toi do with prayer. The "click" factor of these five guys is amazing, and the talent levels of the other 4 are very humbling to me. We immediately landed a gig that rotates with the house band in a brand new establishment geared toward the exact age group our band is aimed at...18 and up. The band is thriving, and is a real blessing.
What does any of that have to do with this? Well, the job is a 12 hour swing shift where I work 15 days a month. The pay is good as a temp...the highest around...and even better as a permanent hire (again, the highest around). Well, I jsut got hired on permanent after only 2 months! There were 21 interviewed from the temporary pool with experience levels up to nearly two years. Only 9 were hired. I feel extremely blessed and confident this is indeed where God wants me, at least for now. This company is "the hardest place in town to get into"...according to the lady who drew my blood for the physical. The benefits are very good, so they're really picky about background checks, etc.
The schedule makes time for tons of practice, so my music is really taking off more than ever. I have big blocks of time off and equally big blocks of work that rotete in a fashion that gives me some four day weekends, and some normal two day ones, as well as three days (wed-fri) off every other week. We played or gig last night, and it has worked out to be on my friday off every time!
So, things are looking up...except in the riding department. Haven't done much, but plan to soon. As ususual, I feel rejuvinated when riding, so i plant to ride to work tonight, and use the morning ride home toget recharged for church in the morning...then back to work tomorrow night at 7 pm. That's the shift...7pm-7am, and vice versa...two weeks each. The actual schedule is a little weird to try and explain, but I'll try
Mon-tue(off) wed-fri(7p-7a) Sat sun(off)
Mon-tue(7a-7p) wed-fri(off) Sat sun(7a-7p)
Mon-tue(off) wed-fri(7a-7p) Sat sun(off)
Mon-tue(7p-7a) wed-fri (off) Sat sun(7p-7a)
I think you get the gist of it.
Big blocks of time both for work and for off. Of course the night shift has shift differential, and the 48 hour week has 4 hours overtime. This lands me at about the 30K vicinity to start, which will be fine for the two of us, and for the band ministry.
That's the update! Busy schedule, but I still pop in here for a quick look from time to time.
God bless!
