Speaking of the V-Strom

Here is another option for the practical / comfy / lightweight touring bike catagory. I like the belt drive, the ergos and the weight. I am not crazy about the looks or more than likely the price (whatever it may be when they announce it). It's likely not manly enough for the masses but I bet it would be a hell of a way to do distance.....

Man that thing is ugly.
My MSF instructor had a triumph sprint set up as a touring bike, that looked nice and functional.

Compared to the V-Strom, it's gorgeous.
That thing is a beast.
But this BMW isn't so bad if you ask me.

thats the thing with BMWs, they dont make normal bikes, they make modern art bikes. . . i think BMWs look awesome, people either seem to love the look of BMWs, or hate em.

What is that circular thing under the seat?
Auxillery gas tank?
would be pretty sweet to have a factory auxillery gas tank.

the circular thing under the seat is the fuel filler. the tank is under the seat IIRC

It's the main gas tank. The airbox is where the "tank" is normally located....

Though BMWs' look is unconventional, I like it. I've been looking at the Rockster, which really is a neat looking bike except for mabye the real loud colors.
The "big 4" - I guess I should say "big 5" if you want to include H-D - all put out bikes that mostly look similar. Something like a BMW or a Ducati is cool because it's not so much a "me too" bike.
That bike there, I think it looks cool.

if you like the rockster but not its loud paintjob look at the regular R1150R, same bike as the rockster but in less loud colors

the more I look at the v-strom, especially seeing them out riding, the more it begins to resemble the BMW adventure tourers
